Hello Vapers,
I’m back with another THR Wrap-Up, bringing you some of the latest updates from the tobacco harm reduction community.
Let’s start with a partner spotlight. Our partner Joseph Magero from Kenya has written a powerful blog on how Kenya can develop a smarter tobacco policy. As Parliament considers the proposed Tobacco Control Amendment Bill, the country faces an important choice: continue with fear-based policies or embrace approaches that can actually help smokers move away from deadly combustible cigarettes. Be sure to read Joseph’s blog and support the cause.
Another great read this week comes from Michael. In his latest blog, he explores how Bloomberg-funded NGOs have spent more than a decade flooding the public and especially smokers and vapers with misinformation. The result? Many people now wrongly believe that vaping is just as harmful, or even more harmful, than smoking. Is this really something to celebrate? Read Michael’s thoughts in his latest blog.
Meanwhile, there’s exciting news on the Vaping Unplugged front. I recently recorded a new episode with our partners from the Czech Republic. Petr shares insights from the ground, discussing what’s working, what’s at stake, and how organisations like Generation Without Smoke are advocating for smarter, evidence-based tobacco harm reduction policies. From national policy to the experiences of everyday consumers, this episode offers a closer look at how the Czech Republic is shaping the future of nicotine. Don’t miss it!
Finally, why do consumer voices matter? If you’re interested in the missing perspective in today’s public debate, be sure to read this excellent blog from our partner Kurt Yeo at THR Global. It’s a timely reminder of why the people most affected by these policies deserve to be heard.
That’s all for this week.
Until next time, keep up the fight!
