Another Open Letter to the EU

Seven pressure groups across Europe have written an open letter to the European Commission DG SANTE, Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission), and Olivér Várhelyi (Commissioner for Health and Food Safety) requesting they stops their unevidenced war on tobacco harm reduction. As part of the missive, the letter urges them to rethink the direction of the upcoming Tobacco Products Directive revision.

The World Vapers’ Alliance tells Planet of the Vapes that the letter directly challenges the Commission’s TPD evaluation report published earlier this month.

It calls on the Commission to apply a risk-proportionate framework, protect adult access to less harmful alternatives, and learn from countries like Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Greece, which achieved some of the fastest smoking declines in Europe by embracing harm reduction rather than restricting it,” it said.
