WVA consultation response to Canada’s proposed flavour ban

The WVA submitted today its response to the consultation in regards to Health Canada’s proposed vaping flavour ban. The Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement (RIAS) is full of biased arguments against vaping, it is missing crucial facts about the role of flavours and perpetuates many debunked myths about vaping flavours. When will policy-makers wake up to the benefits of vaping?

As the voice of 25 associations worldwide, representing tens of thousands of vapers, we believe that an international voice is important in this debate. Therefore, we – as an organisation representing consumers – believe that it is our responsibility and duty towards all the vapers who count on us to protect their rights, to make sure that we set the record straight. Our consultation response was officially submitted on 30 August, and you can read it here.

It deals with the following issues:

  • Health effects & smoking cessation
  • Impact of vaping on youth smoking and how to reduce this
  • Vaping and the gateway hypothesis
  • Impacts of potential flavour bans
