THR Wrap-Up: What’s Happening in the THR World This Summer

Hi folks,

It’s been a while since our last wrap-up blog. It might seem like summer is slow, but there are plenty of things happening around the THR world. So, let’s have a nice summer THR Wrap-Up – Summer Edition.

What’s there to read?

I found this blog by Michael a great read, especially because it is so important to talk about the landscape the media is creating around vaping and less harmful nicotine products. Why is the media so quick to scaremonger consumers, while rarely speaking about the progress that countries like Sweden are actually making? Read more in the blog about the inconvenient truth: vaping kills smoking.

Speaking of misinformation, it’s not only the media that has been caught doing it. Sadly, we see more and more policymakers and public health officials going down the same path. “Our goal remains clear: a tobacco and nicotine-free generation by 2040,” wrote EU Health Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi. It’s not the first time the EU Health Commissioner has attacked harm reduction or misinformed the public about it, so make sure to read why this statement is both alarming and misleading in this blog by Alberto.

Not only is it important to spot misinformation, but it is also vital to check the facts and stay informed.

THR Global has launched a new independent National Youth Tobacco Survey Dashboard, bringing years of US youth tobacco and nicotine data together in one place. This topic is hugely significant in the THR debate, so make sure to check it out and stay informed with THR Global.

WVA Partner Spotlight: Rights4Vapers will be hitting the road this summer, and that’s something the THR movement across Canada should not miss out on. Follow their journey, find answers to the questions you might have, and, of course, support the cause!

That’s it for today, fellow THR advocates!

See you in September!

Vaping can save 200 million lives and flavours play a key role in helping smokers quit. However, policymakers want to limit or ban flavours, putting our effort to end smoking-related deaths in jeopardy.
