EVERY LIFE COUNTS.

A Pledge for Harm Reduction in Europe

MEPs and Candidates Commit to Tobacco Harm Reduction

In recognition of the significant challenge smokers face in quitting and the devastating toll of over 700,000 annual deaths in Europe due to smoking-related illnesses, current Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and candidates are committed to enhancing the well-being of European citizens and minimising the harmful impact of tobacco.

The Pledge

Embrace Tobacco Harm Reduction

I will advocate for tobacco harm reduction as a key strategy in anti-smoking policies, promoting the shift to less harmful alternatives such as vaping, snus, nicotine pouches, and Heat-Not-Burn products for those unable to quit smoking. These alternatives have been proven to be less harmful and effective as cessation tools.

Support Smokers' Choice

Smokers should have access to a broad range of cessation methods to determine the most effective for them. I commit to ensuring the availability and affordability of various smoking alternatives as legitimate cessation aids.

Advocate for Risk-Based Regulations

I will push for a progressive, risk-based regulatory framework across the EU, emphasising tobacco harm reduction to protect public health.

Every Life Counts

Join Us in Our Mission

By endorsing these principles, these policymakers are committed to significantly reducing smoking rates through harm reduction, evidence-based strategies, and prioritising consumer choice—because every life counts. Their support for tobacco harm reduction initiatives is vital, and we hope more decision-makers in Brussels will listen to science and consumers.

We invite other MEPs, candidates, and the public to join us in our commitment to a smoke-free future. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions and steer Europe towards a healthier horizon.
