Hi vapers,
After a short pause, I’m back again with another wrap-up to share some news from the THR world.
Probably the biggest update in recent weeks for consumers in the EU was the TPD-evaluatierapport published by the European Commission, which unfortunately undermines harm reduction and focuses on further restricting products that help former smokers. The report’s fundamental flaw lies in its incoherent logic: it highlights stagnant progress in reducing smoking under the TPD, yet responds by targeting the alternative nicotine products that have driven significant reductions in smoking rates across several member states.
Apart from reading this blog, you can also visit the resource centre on our website and challenge the misinformation: https://worldvapersalliance.com/tpd-evaluation-report-partner-resource-center/
Staying in the EU, you can also lees meer about how this evaluation was published despite a negative opinion from the Commission’s own internal quality control body.
Looking beyond the EU, more negative updates this time. Turkey, which has already banned vapes, now appears to believe that this is not enough and is considering broader restrictions across tobacco policy, with long-term plans looking ahead to 2040. Will it happen? We don’t know. But if it does, it certainly won’t be good news for consumers. Read more here.
Despite all the challenges, our community remains focused and active. On a more positive note, a new platform has been launched to fight misinformation and provide evidence on less harmful nicotine alternatives globally — THR Global. Have a look.
That’s about it for today. Vape on and stay loud – misinformation does not wait.
