WVA submits comments to UK All Party Parliamentary Group for Vaping

The World Vapers’ Alliance has submitted at the beginning of February comments to the U.K. All Party Parliamentary Group for Vaping inquiry. The submissions are meant to serve as advice for the U.K. delegation to the Conference of the Parties (COP9) to the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), which is scheduled to take place in the Netherlands this November.

The WVA pointed out the continued flaws in the operation of the FCTC in the last years, including the absolute refusal of including any scientific evidence that proves vaping is less harmful than smoking and an efficient method to quit.

We recommended to the UK delegation to ensure that FCTC does not act against public health in the UK, by restricting access, information or variety of vaping products – as that would lead to a catastrophic relapse of millions of former smokers.

We believe that the UK is using the right and sensible approach when it comes to vaping.

We are sad to see developments in other countries that look at equating vaping and smoking, but we believe that the UK’s strong voice needs to be heard in the WHO and FCTC discussions.
