Han kritiserade den hemlighetsfulla karakt\u00e4ren hos COP-m\u00f6ten, d\u00e4r endast gynnsamma medier sl\u00e4pps in och observat\u00f6rer utest\u00e4ngs, i strid med den avsedda \u00f6ppenheten med s\u00e5dana skattefinansierade m\u00f6ten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams delade ocks\u00e5 en personlig ber\u00e4ttelse om sin far, en storr\u00f6kare som saknade alternativ, och beklagade att WHO:s nuvarande h\u00e5llning kring minskning av tobaksskador inneb\u00e4r att miljontals m\u00e4nniskor idag fortfarande nekas tillg\u00e5ng till livr\u00e4ddande innovationer. Han menade att &quot;det finns ingen anledning till att vi inte anammar denna innovation&quot; och betonade vikten av att h\u00e5lla WHO ansvarigt, med initiativ som TPA:s &quot;GoodCOP\/BadCOP&quot; som tillhandah\u00e5ller faktakontroll i realtid och f\u00f6rst\u00e4rker experters och konsumenters r\u00f6ster.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignorera vetenskap, utesluta intressenter<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clive Bates och Roger Bate lyfte b\u00e5da fram WHO:s upprepade misslyckanden med att anta pragmatiska strategier baserade p\u00e5 skademinskning. Bates noterade att WHO och FCTC har fr\u00e4mjat f\u00f6rbudspolitik och hyllat f\u00f6rbud utan att beakta avv\u00e4gningar eller oavsiktliga konsekvenser. Han kritiserade uteslutningen av konsumenter och legitima intressenter fr\u00e5n den politiska processen, medan proxy-f\u00f6respr\u00e5ksgrupper ges en plattform. Bates beskrev detta som en &quot;fanatism som skadar m\u00e4nniskor&quot; och argumenterade f\u00f6r att folkh\u00e4lsan b\u00f6r vara \u00f6ppensinnad och nyfiken p\u00e5 l\u00f6sningar, inte st\u00e4ngd f\u00f6r m\u00e5ngfald av \u00e5sikter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roger Bate tillade att WHO:s struktur och finansiering, fr\u00e5n medlemsstater och privata givare som Bill Gates och Michael Bloomberg, har lett till en politik som snarare tillfredsst\u00e4ller givare \u00e4n tj\u00e4nar folkh\u00e4lsan. Han efterlyste en omfattande reform, \u00e4ven om han uttryckte skepsis mot sannolikheten f\u00f6r meningsfulla f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar utan p\u00e5tryckningar fr\u00e5n medlemsstaterna.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Behovet av reform och inkludering<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ett \u00e5terkommande tema var det akuta behovet av att inkludera alla ber\u00f6rda parter i beslutsfattandet om tobakskontroll, s\u00e4rskilt konsumenter. TPA:s initiativ \u201cGoodCOP\/BadCOP\u201d, som ska forts\u00e4tta vid COP11 i Gen\u00e8ve den 17\u201322 november 2025, syftar till att tillhandah\u00e5lla en plattform f\u00f6r faktakontroll i realtid och att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla att de som mest ber\u00f6rs av COP-besluten \u00e4ntligen blir h\u00f6rda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Som World Vapers&#039; Alliance st\u00e5r vi enade med dem som kr\u00e4ver transparens, vetenskaplig integritet och genuint engagemang fr\u00e5n intressenter vid COP11. Alltf\u00f6r l\u00e4nge har WHO ignorerat robusta bevis och verkliga erfarenheter fr\u00e5n miljontals m\u00e4nniskor som framg\u00e5ngsrikt har slutat r\u00f6ka genom vaping och andra skademinskande produkter. Denna strategi undergr\u00e4ver inte bara folkh\u00e4lsan utan tystar ocks\u00e5 de m\u00e4nniskor som drabbas h\u00e5rdast av denna politik.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vi anser att det \u00e4r viktigt att konsumenternas r\u00f6ster \u00e4ntligen h\u00f6rs. Vid COP11 i Gen\u00e8ve kommer vi att finnas d\u00e4r f\u00f6r att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla att beslutsfattare inte kan ignorera bevisen som st\u00f6der minskning av tobaksskador eller vuxnas r\u00e4tt att f\u00e5 tillg\u00e5ng till s\u00e4krare alternativ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vi vet att skademinimering r\u00e4ddar liv \u2013 se bara p\u00e5 Sveriges framg\u00e5ngar med att minska r\u00f6kningsfrekvensen.
