Bryssel, 4 oktober \u2014<\/strong> Tidigare i veckan cirkulerade en l\u00e4ckt rapport fr\u00e5n Europeiska kommissionen bland ledam\u00f6terna i Europaparlamentet med EU-lagstiftarnas chockerande st\u00e5ndpunkt om framtiden f\u00f6r skademinskning i Europa. Enligt inl\u00e4gget p\u00e5 X<\/a> fr\u00e5n parlamentsledamoten Charlie Weimers, \u201cfinns det tv\u00e5 anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rda skrifter: ber\u00f6m f\u00f6r hur framg\u00e5ngsrikt snusf\u00f6rbudet har varit och en rekommendation att EU b\u00f6r utvidga snusf\u00f6rbudet till det tobaksfria vita snuset (nikotinp\u00e5sar).\u201d Rapporten, som \u00e4r t\u00e4nkt att officiellt presenteras f\u00f6r ledam\u00f6terna i EU-parlamentet senare i veckan, f\u00f6rs\u00e4mrar allvarligt den svenska r\u00f6kfria framg\u00e5ngen och hotar livet f\u00f6r m\u00e5nga tidigare och nuvarande r\u00f6kare i EU, s\u00e4ger World Vapers' Alliance.<\/p>\n

"Sveriges r\u00f6kfria framg\u00e5ng \u00e4r inte ett mirakel \u2013 det \u00e4r ett resultat av den landsomfattande evidensbaserade politiken som st\u00f6der det mindre skadliga alternativet till cigaretter. Sedan v\u00e4rlden b\u00f6rjade fira Sveriges framg\u00e5ng med att n\u00e5 det r\u00f6kfria m\u00e5let 5% har alla blickar riktats mot EU som en drivkraft f\u00f6r skademinskning och innovation. Om EU-kommissionen g\u00e5r vidare och ytterligare utvidgar snusf\u00f6rbudet till nikotinp\u00e5sar kommer det inte bara att \u00e4ventyra dess egna r\u00f6kfria m\u00e5l utan ocks\u00e5 att hota r\u00f6kavv\u00e4njningsinsatser v\u00e4rlden \u00f6ver.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Medan Sverige har lyckats minska sina r\u00f6kningssiffror avsev\u00e4rt under de senaste decennierna tack vare snusundantaget fr\u00e5n EU, f\u00e5r nikotinp\u00e5sar inte samma behandling och \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4ven hotade i Sverige.<\/p>\n

"Tyv\u00e4rr g\u00e4ller inte det svenska undantaget f\u00f6r tobakssnus nikotinportioner. Om EU-kommissionen och medlemsstaterna accepterar rapportens rekommendation kommer \u00e4ven vitt snus att f\u00f6rbjudas i Sverige. M\u00e4n har i stor utstr\u00e4ckning valt bort r\u00f6kning till f\u00f6rm\u00e5n f\u00f6r snus, medan kvinnor som s\u00f6ker mindre farliga alternativ v\u00e4ljer vitt snus oftare. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r skulle ett s\u00e5dant f\u00f6rbud sl\u00e5 extra h\u00e5rt mot kvinnor.<\/em>\u201d, ber\u00f6mde parlamentsledamoten Weimers i sitt Twitterinl\u00e4gg.<\/p>\n

F\u00f6rra m\u00e5naden tillk\u00e4nnagav Sverige sina planer p\u00e5 att s\u00e4nka skatten p\u00e5 snus, en r\u00f6kfri tobaksprodukt, till 20% samtidigt som skatten p\u00e5 cigaretter och r\u00f6ktobak h\u00f6js med 9%.
