I mitten av maj drabbades Spaniens vapeindustri av en chockv\u00e5g: Regeringen lade fram ett lagf\u00f6rslag som skulle avsluta den oberoende inhemska vapesektorn. F\u00f6rslaget inneb\u00e4r att f\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningen av vapeprodukter ska begr\u00e4nsas till statligt \u00e4gda tobaksbutiker inom fem \u00e5r. Specialiserade vapebutiker kan bara forts\u00e4tta sin verksamhet om de \u00f6verg\u00e5r till licensierade tobaksaff\u00e4rer \u2013 ett steg som skulle tvinga dem att \u00e4ven s\u00e4lja br\u00e4nnbara produkter. Lagf\u00f6rslaget skulle ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6rbjuda onlinef\u00f6rs\u00e4ljning av vapeprodukter.<\/p>\n

Vid en nyligen genomf\u00f6rd konferens f\u00f6rklarade Angeles Muntadas-Prim Lafita, ordf\u00f6rande f\u00f6r den spanska f\u00f6reningen som st\u00f6der vapers (ANESVAP), att den f\u00f6reslagna lagstiftningen inneb\u00e4r att regeringen vill monopolisera nikotinmarknaden. \u201cEtt land som \u00e4r medlem i den europeiska gemensamma marknaden vill monopolisera en fri och oberoende marknad. Det \u00e4r som att g\u00e5 tillbaka till en tid d\u00e5 Spanien inte ens var en demokrati \u2013 eller ens till den spanska inkvisitionen\u201d, sa hon.<\/p>\n

Muntadas-Prim Lafita ans\u00e5g det osannolikt att \u00e4gare av vape-butiker skulle s\u00e4lja br\u00e4nnbara varor. Etablerade tobaksbutiker, \u00e5 andra sidan, kanske eller kanske inte s\u00e4ljer vape-produkter enligt de planerade reglerna. \u201cDetta skulle vara skadligt f\u00f6r konsumenter som skulle tvingas g\u00e5 till en tobaksaff\u00e4r f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 sina vape-produkter \u2013 eller s\u00e5 m\u00e5nga som de kunde hitta eftersom det skulle vara upp till tobakshandlaren att best\u00e4mma vad hen ska s\u00e4lja\u201d, sa hon. \u201cDessutom kan r\u00f6kare som anv\u00e4nder vaping f\u00f6r att sluta r\u00f6ka farligare produkter frestas att k\u00f6pa br\u00e4nnbara varor igen.
