In het huidige tempo verschuift de doelstelling van 5 procent voor 2040 naar 2100, 60 jaar te laat.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, zei:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em><strong><em>Het Safe Hearts Plan schiet tekort voor rokers doordat het de schadebeperking volledig negeert en vapen en e-sigaretten beschouwt als een opstapje naar verslaving in plaats van als hulpmiddelen om te stoppen met roken.<\/em><\/strong><em> Landen zoals Zweden hebben de rooktrend omgekeerd en de cardiovasculaire gezondheid verbeterd met minder schadelijke alternatieven, in plaats van die alternatieven aan te vallen, die juist onderdeel van de oplossing zouden moeten zijn. <\/em><strong><em>Dit is een gemiste kans. Nu moet de herziening van de TPD op zijn minst schadebeperking en risicogebaseerde regelgeving als hoekstenen hanteren, anders zal de EU nooit rookvrij worden.<\/em><\/strong><em>&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Het Safe Hearts Plan omvat de toezegging van de Commissie om de herziening van de Tabaksproductenrichtlijn te versnellen. Tsjechi\u00eb verlaagde het aantal rokers in drie jaar tijd met 23 procent door middel van pragmatisch beleid. Griekenland wist het aantal rokers met 14 procent te verminderen door schadebeperking te stimuleren. De Europese Commissie negeert deze lessen.<\/p>\n<p>De World Vapers&#039; Alliance dringt er daarom bij de Europarlementari\u00ebrs en de lidstaten op aan om te streven naar wetenschappelijk onderbouwde, consumentvriendelijke nicotinewetgeving met eerlijke belastingen die de werkelijke risico&#039;s weerspiegelen.
