Dublin, 23 juni 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Na de lichtshow van gisteren zet de World Vapers' Alliance haar \u2019Stemmen die niet gehoord worden \u2013 Consumenten doen ertoe!<\/a>\u201d"campagne met een stil protest bij de Wereldconferentie over tabakscontrole<\/a> (WCTC). Demonstranten, met afgeplakte monden, staan solidair buiten het congrescentrum en symboliseren de aanhoudende uitsluiting van nicotinegebruikers van cruciale beleidsdiscussies.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Terwijl afgevaardigden en experts binnen debatteren over de toekomst van tabaksbestrijding, blijven consumenten aan de zijlijn staan \u2013 hun ervaringen en stemmen worden genegeerd.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, zegt:<\/p>\n

\u201cHet is een symbool van hoe consumenten in deze discussies het zwijgen worden opgelegd.\u201d. <\/em>Wij zijn hier, onze verhalen doen ertoe, en het is tijd dat beleidsmakers gaan luisteren.<\/em><\/strong> In plaats van smaken en veiligere alternatieven te verbieden, hebben we beleid nodig dat zowel jonge rokers als volwassen rokers die willen stoppen, beschermt. <\/em>Consumenten het zwijgen opleggen is niet de oplossing.<\/em><\/strong>"

Het protest vindt plaats te midden van groeiende bezorgdheid over de agressieve houding van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) ten aanzien van schadebeperking, waaronder recente eisen om Verbied gearomatiseerde tabak en nicotineproducten.<\/a>. Dergelijke maatregelen dreigen de vooruitgang teniet te doen die is geboekt door miljoenen volwassenen die met succes zijn overgestapt van traditionele sigaretten naar veiligere alternatieven.<\/p>\n

Alberto G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez, beleids- en belangenbehartigingsmanager voor de WVA, zegt:<\/p>\n

\u201c"Veiligere nicotinealternatieven redden levens, maar alleen met verstandige, op bewijs gebaseerde regelgeving. Consumenten moeten bij dit gesprek worden betrokken.". <\/em>Verouderde, dogmatische tabaksbestrijdingsmaatregelen, die hardnekkig het potentieel van schadebeperking negeren, belemmeren de vooruitgang op het gebied van de volksgezondheid.<\/em><\/strong>"
