{"id":6220,"date":"2025-04-30T04:50:11","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T08:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/?p=6220"},"modified":"2025-04-30T04:51:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T08:51:22","slug":"the-whos-failure-to-protect-health-insights-from-the-tpa-webinar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/nl_nl\/the-whos-failure-to-protect-health-insights-from-the-tpa-webinar\/","title":{"rendered":"Het falen van de WHO om de gezondheid te beschermen: inzichten uit het TPA-webinar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) organiseerde onlangs een <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ba1WElqd2aI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWebinar &#039;Aftellen naar COP11&#039;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, waarbij vooraanstaande experts bijeenkwamen om het Kaderverdrag inzake Tabaksontmoediging (FCTC) van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) en de tekortkomingen ervan in de afgelopen twee decennia te onderzoeken. Onder leiding van Martin Cullip bestond het panel uit David Williams (TPA), Roger Bate (ICLE) en Clive Bates (Counterfactual), die gezamenlijk het gebrek aan verantwoording, transparantie en wetenschappelijke nauwkeurigheid van de WHO in het tabaksbeleid benadrukten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David Williams opende met het benadrukken van de zorgen van de TPA over het gebruik van belastinggeld door de WHO, waarbij hij wees op het toenemende budget van de organisatie en het gebrek aan transparantie. Hij bekritiseerde het geheimzinnige karakter van COP-bijeenkomsten, waar alleen gunstige media worden toegelaten en waarnemers worden uitgesloten, wat in strijd is met de beoogde openheid van dergelijke, met belastinggeld gefinancierde bijeenkomsten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams deelde ook een persoonlijk verhaal over zijn vader, een zware roker die geen alternatieven had. Hij betreurde dat het huidige standpunt van de WHO over tabaksschadevermindering betekent dat miljoenen mensen nog steeds geen toegang hebben tot levensreddende innovaties. Hij betoogde dat &quot;er geen reden is waarom we deze innovatie niet omarmen&quot; en benadrukte het belang van het ter verantwoording roepen van de WHO, met initiatieven zoals TPA&#039;s &quot;GoodCOP\/BadCOP&quot; die live feitencontrole bieden en de stem van experts en consumenten versterken.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wetenschap negeren, belanghebbenden uitsluiten<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clive Bates en Roger Bate wezen beiden op het herhaaldelijk falen van de WHO om pragmatische, op schadebeperking gebaseerde strategie\u00ebn te hanteren. Bates merkte op dat de WHO en de FCTC prohibitionistisch beleid hebben gepromoot en verboden hebben gevierd zonder rekening te houden met afwegingen of onbedoelde gevolgen. Hij bekritiseerde de uitsluiting van consumenten en legitieme belanghebbenden van het beleidsproces, terwijl belangenorganisaties wel een platform krijgen. Bates omschreef dit als &quot;fanatisme dat mensen schaadt&quot; en betoogde dat de volksgezondheid open en nieuwsgierig moet zijn naar oplossingen, en zich niet moet afsluiten voor diversiteit in standpunten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roger Bate voegde eraan toe dat de structuur en financiering van de WHO, van lidstaten en particuliere donoren zoals Bill Gates en Michael Bloomberg, hebben geleid tot beleid dat donoren tevreden stelt in plaats van de volksgezondheid te dienen. Hij riep op tot een alomvattende hervorming, hoewel hij sceptisch was over de waarschijnlijkheid van betekenisvolle verandering zonder druk van de lidstaten.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De noodzaak van hervorming en inclusie<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Een terugkerend thema was de dringende noodzaak om alle belanghebbenden, en met name consumenten, te betrekken bij de beleidsvorming rond tabaksontmoediging. Het &quot;GoodCOP\/BadCOP&quot;-initiatief van de TPA, dat wordt voortgezet tijdens de COP11 in Gen\u00e8ve van 17 tot en met 22 november 2025, beoogt een platform te bieden voor realtime factchecking en ervoor te zorgen dat degenen die het zwaarst getroffen worden door de COP-besluiten eindelijk gehoord worden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Als World Vapers&#039; Alliance staan we \u00e9\u00e9n lijn met degenen die pleiten voor transparantie, wetenschappelijke integriteit en oprechte betrokkenheid van belanghebbenden tijdens COP11. De WHO heeft te lang gedegen bewijs en de praktijkervaringen van miljoenen mensen die succesvol zijn gestopt met roken door middel van vapen en andere schadebeperkende producten genegeerd. Deze aanpak ondermijnt niet alleen de volksgezondheid, maar brengt ook de mensen die het zwaarst door dit beleid worden getroffen, tot zwijgen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wij vinden het essentieel dat de stem van consumenten eindelijk gehoord wordt. Op de COP11 in Gen\u00e8ve zullen we er zijn om ervoor te zorgen dat beleidsmakers het bewijs voor vermindering van de schade door tabaksgebruik of het recht van volwassenen op toegang tot veiligere alternatieven niet kunnen negeren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We weten dat het omarmen van schadebeperking levens redt \u2013 kijk maar naar het succes van Zweden bij het terugdringen van het aantal rokers.
