Nicotine beschadigt de zich ontwikkelende hersenen en kan al op jonge leeftijd leiden tot een hardnekkige verslaving.&quot;.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u2018&#039;Misleidende&#039; opmerkingen<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>De World Vapers&#039; Alliance (WVA), een belangenorganisatie voor e-sigaretten, heeft de vergelijking veroordeeld als &quot;misleidend&quot; en stelt dat deze levens in gevaar brengt door mensen af te schrikken van een product dat aantoonbaar veel veiliger is dan roken.<\/p>\n<p>De groep stelde dat de opmerkingen van Karremans &quot;niet alleen onjuist, maar ook schadelijk zijn voor de volksgezondheid&quot; en voegde eraan toe dat zijn &quot;bewering dat &#039;nicotine de meest verslavende drug is die er bestaat na hero\u00efne en crack&#039; een flagrante verdraaiing is van wetenschappelijk bewijs en bijdraagt aan de groeiende pandemie van misinformatie rondom vapen in Nederland.&quot;\u2019<\/p>\n<p>De blunder volgt nadat Europees commissaris Wopke Hoekstra vorige maand de onjuiste bewering deed dat <a href=\"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/en\/post\/european-commissioner-wrongly-states-vaping-kills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cVapen is dodelijk\u201d<\/a> in een openbare toespraak tot het parlement.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens een toespraak op de <a href=\"https:\/\/multimedia.europarl.europa.eu\/en\/webstreaming\/fisc-committee-meeting_20250206-1000-COMMITTEE-FISC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Subcommissie voor belastingzaken<\/a> Op 6 februari beweerde Hoekstra onjuist dat vapen op dezelfde manier dodelijk is als roken.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de WVA, zei: \u201cDe angstzaaierij van de Nederlandse overheid is niet alleen onjuist, maar ook gevaarlijk. Door dergelijke misinformatie te verspreiden, ondermijnen ze actief de inspanningen om roken in Nederland te bestrijden.
