De Europese Commissie maakt een rampzalige fout door vapen op \u00e9\u00e9n lijn te stellen met roken, aldus de World Vapers' Alliance.<\/h4>\n

De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) heeft haar ernstige bezorgdheid geuit over de acties van de Europese Commissie.\u00a0aanbeveling<\/a>\u00a0Door vapen op te nemen in de definitie en plannen voor rookvrije omgevingen, wordt vapen feitelijk gelijkgesteld aan roken. Het gevolg hiervan is dat vapen verboden zal worden op alle plaatsen waar roken momenteel verboden is of in de toekomst verboden zal worden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, zei: \u201cDe Commissie maakt een rampzalige fout door vapen op \u00e9\u00e9n hoop te gooien met roken. Dit geeft een gevaarlijke boodschap aan miljoenen rokers die vapen nodig hebben om te stoppen. Het stelt vapen ten onrechte gelijk aan roken, waardoor miljoenen mensen ten onrechte denken dat vapen net zo schadelijk is, terwijl het in werkelijkheid veel minder schadelijk is. Er is vrijwel geen sprake van passief vapen en het is veel minder schadelijk dan roken. Deze aanbevelingen zullen ervoor zorgen dat meer mensen blijven roken en de volksgezondheid verder in gevaar brengen door vapen gelijk te stellen aan roken.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

De aanbevelingen van de Europese Commissie negeren het huidige onafhankelijke bewijs uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk dat aantoont dat passieve e-sigarettendamp een verwaarloosbaar risico voor de gezondheid vormen \u2013 zeker in vergelijking met passieve rook.<\/p>\n
