Terwijl parlementsleden zich opstelden om te stemmen over Rishi Sunaks anti-vapewetgeving, waarschuwde de World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) dat het Verenigd Koninkrijk op de rand van een ramp voor de volksgezondheid stond. De wet verbiedt de verkoop van tabak aan iedereen van 15 jaar en jonger, maar bevat bepalingen die rokers ervan moeten weerhouden over te stappen op vapen. In Turijn nam de gemeenteraad een amendement aan, waarmee aanzienlijke beperkingen op het roken en vapen werden ingevoerd.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

De WVA heeft Britse parlementsleden opgeroepen hun stemgedrag te heroverwegen nu Sunaks wetsvoorstel over tabak en e-sigaretten de volgende fase in het parlement ingaat. Het wetsvoorstel houdt in dat iedereen die na 2009 is geboren geen sigaretten of tabaksproducten die verhit worden in plaats van verbrand te kunnen kopen. Het parlement heeft ook overeenstemming bereikt over mogelijke beperkingen op onder meer de smaken en verpakkingen van e-sigaretten.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoewel de intentie om de bevolking te beschermen tegen de groeiende rookepidemie prijzenswaardig is, baart het extra verbod op Heat-not-burn-tabakproducten zorgen. Deze producten blijken veel minder schadelijk te zijn en zijn, samen met gearomatiseerde vapes en andere nicotineproducten, zoals zakjes, cruciaal geweest bij het helpen stoppen met roken van miljoenen rokers. Het wetsvoorstel schept een gevaarlijk precedent van verschillen in wetgeving voor verschillende bevolkingsgroepen en loopt het risico dat het ook wordt toegepast op andere, minder schadelijke producten die cruciaal zijn geweest in de strijd tegen roken.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0aldus Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance.<\/p>\n
