Londen, VK \u2013 Gisteren stemden de parlementsleden in met de tweede lezing van de Tabaks- en Vapewet, die de verkoop van tabak aan personen jonger dan 15 jaar verbiedt. De WVA waarschuwt de parlementsleden om hun stem te heroverwegen, aangezien het wetsvoorstel naar de volgende fase in het parlement gaat.<\/p>\n

Het wetsvoorstel houdt in dat iedereen die na 2009 geboren is, geen sigaretten of Heat-not-burn-tabakproducten meer mag kopen. Het parlement stemde ook in met mogelijke beperkingen op onder andere de smaak van e-sigaretten en de verpakking van producten.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoewel de intentie om de bevolking te beschermen tegen de groeiende rookepidemie prijzenswaardig is, baart het extra verbod op Heat-not-burn-tabakproducten zorgen. Deze producten blijken veel minder schadelijk te zijn en zijn, samen met gearomatiseerde vapes en andere nicotineproducten, zoals zakjes, cruciaal geweest bij het helpen stoppen met roken van miljoenen rokers. Het wetsvoorstel schept een gevaarlijk precedent van verschillen in wetgeving voor verschillende bevolkingsgroepen en loopt het risico dat het ook wordt toegepast op andere, minder schadelijke producten die cruciaal zijn geweest in de strijd tegen roken.\u201d<\/em> aldus Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe roepen de parlementsleden die v\u00f3\u00f3r het wetsvoorstel hebben gestemd op om hun stem te heroverwegen. De goedkeuring van een dergelijk wetsvoorstel brengt veel onbedoelde gevolgen met zich mee, zoals een uitbreiding van de zwarte markt voor sigaretten of gearomatiseerde e-sigaretten en een toename van het rookgedrag onder jongeren.<\/em>, voegde Landl toe.<\/p>\n

\u201cEr zijn een paar voorbeelden waarbij wetgevers hebben geprobeerd om generatieverboden in te voeren die niet succesvol zijn geweest, zoals Bhutan<\/a> waar het generatieverbod resulteerde in een enorme groei van de zwarte markt en uiteindelijk moest worden teruggedraaid.
