Parijs, 25 maart 2024<\/strong> \u2014 In Frankrijk heeft een parlementaire commissie een verbod<\/a> op wegwerp-vapes. De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) dringt er bij beleidsmakers op aan de verreikende gevolgen van deze stap voor de volksgezondheid en schadebeperking te heroverwegen.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, de directeur van de WVA, stelt:, \u201cVerbod werkt niet. Dat heeft het nooit gedaan en dat zal het ook nooit doen. Een verbod op wegwerp-vapes zal de vraag niet wegnemen, maar zal deze van de gereguleerde markt naar de zwarte markt verplaatsen, met negatieve, onbedoelde gevolgen voor de volksgezondheid tot gevolg.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Het verbod op wegwerp-vapes is contraproductief voor het beperken van de schade, stelt Landl verder. \u201cWegwerp-vapes kunnen een cruciale opstap zijn voor rokers die willen stoppen. Ze bieden een gemakkelijke instap en veel rokers stappen uiteindelijk over op andere vape-apparaten. Het is essentieel voor de volksgezondheid om de overgang van roken naar vapen zo soepel mogelijk te maken. Hoewel sigaretten, waarvan bekend is dat ze extreem schadelijk zijn, nog steeds gemakkelijk verkrijgbaar zijn, tart het verbieden van een minder schadelijk alternatief de logica.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Het verbod is bedoeld om 'een hoog niveau van bescherming van de volksgezondheid te garanderen, met name om jongeren en niet-rokers te beschermen tegen bewezen gezondheidsrisico's.'
