Zij werd beschuldigd van een overtreding in verband met het onrechtmatig weigeren, nalaten of vertragen van offici\u00eble taken, waarop gevangenisstraf of boetes stonden. De oorsprong van de zaak gaat terug tot 2022, toen de Vereniging van Rokers en Gezinnen voor een Rookvrij Panama melding maakte van de verkoop van sigarettenpakjes zonder de vereiste gezondheidswaarschuwingen, wat in strijd was met de geldende regelgeving. Het ontbreken van een openbare aanbesteding in deze zaak wekte zorgen over transparantie en naleving van de wettelijke procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Het ontbreken van een openbare aanbesteding voor het contract van het Panama Convention Center voor COP10.<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De recente aandacht richt zich op de rol van Reina Roa als co\u00f6rdinator van de Nationale Tabaksbestrijdingscommissie en als sleutelfiguur in de strijd tegen tabak in Panama en Centraal-Amerika. Recente publieke beschuldigingen van de Vereniging van Rokers en Families voor een Rookvrij Panama op 28 december 2023 wijzen op de niet-competitieve toekenning van het contract aan het Panama Convention Center (PCC) voor de viering van COP10. Deze stap zou in strijd zijn met zowel de normen van het VN-Verdrag tegen corruptie als artikel 338 van het Wetboek van Strafrecht.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De controverse draait om het ontbreken van een openbare aanbesteding voor het COP10-evenement, dat de overheid 15,5 miljoen Panama-dollar zal kosten.
