Sinds de wereld het Zweedse succes vierde met het bereiken van de 5%-doelstelling voor een rookvrij leven, richtten alle ogen zich op de EU als aanjager van schadebeperking en innovatie. Als de Europese Commissie het snusverbod verder uitbreidt naar nicotinezakjes, brengt dit niet alleen haar eigen rookvrije doelen in gevaar, maar brengt het ook de inspanningen om te stoppen met roken wereldwijd in gevaar.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Terwijl Zweden er in de afgelopen decennia in is geslaagd om het aantal rokers aanzienlijk terug te dringen dankzij de vrijstelling van het snusverbod van de EU, krijgen nicotinezakjes niet dezelfde behandeling en worden ze daarom ook in Zweden bedreigd.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<em>Helaas geldt de Zweedse uitzondering voor tabakssnus niet voor nicotineporties. Als de Europese Commissie en de lidstaten de aanbeveling van het rapport overnemen, wordt witte snus ook in Zweden verboden. Mannen hebben grotendeels besloten om te stoppen met roken en zich te richten op snus, terwijl vrouwen die op zoek zijn naar minder gevaarlijke alternatieven vaker kiezen voor witte snus. Een dergelijk verbod zou vrouwen dus extra hard treffen.<\/em>\u201d prees Europarlementari\u00ebr Weimers in zijn Twitter-bericht.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Vorige maand kondigde Zweden plannen aan om de belasting op snus, een rookloos tabaksproduct, te verlagen met 20% en de belasting op sigaretten en rooktabak te verhogen met 9%.
