Nergens is dit duidelijker dan op het gebied van volksgezondheid en schadebeperking. Terwijl de Europese Unie worstelt met haar standpunt over strategie\u00ebn ter beperking van schade aan rokers, reiken de gevolgen van haar beslissingen tot ver buiten de grenzen en hebben ze gevolgen voor de wereldwijde gezondheid en de strijd tegen rookgerelateerde schade.<\/p>\n<p>Panama zal gastheer zijn van de <a href=\"https:\/\/fctc.who.int\/who-fctc\/governance\/conference-of-the-parties\/tenth-session-of-the-conference-of-the-parties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tiende zitting van de Conferentie van de Partijen (COP10)<\/a> Dit jaar in november bij het WHO-Kaderverdrag inzake Tabaksontmoediging (FCTC) en het zal van groot belang zijn voor de toekomst van de volksgezondheid. De resultaten zullen wereldwijd van invloed zijn op schadebeperking en het beleid rond vapen. De kans dat COP10 schadebeperking en vapen zal bevorderen, is echter zeer twijfelachtig, gezien de strenge aanpak die de WHO de afgelopen jaren tegen vapen heeft gehanteerd.<\/p>\n<p>Onlangs is er nog een grote <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2023-08-largest-e-cigarettes-cessation-aid.html\">VS-breed<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2023-08-largest-e-cigarettes-cessation-aid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> studie<\/a> benadrukte de effectiviteit en de waarde van vapen als hulpmiddel bij het stoppen met roken. Om nog maar te zwijgen van wat we al weten uit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/e-cigarettes-around-95-less-harmful-than-tobacco-estimates-landmark-review\">Openbaar<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/e-cigarettes-around-95-less-harmful-than-tobacco-estimates-landmark-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Gezondheid Engeland<\/a> Jarenlang \u2013 dat vapen minder schadelijk is dan roken. Natuurlijk houdt de lijst met positieve resultaten daar niet op. De enige reden waarom de WHO dit bewijs heeft genegeerd, is omdat ze al partij heeft gekozen in het vape-debat.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Het verbod faalt volledig<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Er zijn voorbeelden van landen waar het verbod op vapen al negatieve gevolgen heeft gehad of in de toekomst zal hebben.<\/p>\n<p>India, dat in 2003 de WHO FCTC ondertekende, heeft bijvoorbeeld in 2019 het vapen verboden.
