De wetenschap, de ervaringen van de consumenten en nu ook het Zweedse voorbeeld bewijzen dat schadebeperking werkt om een rookvrije samenleving te bereiken. We hebben nu een onweerlegbaar argument dat de EU-brede regelgeving risicogebaseerd en op bewijs gebaseerd moet zijn.\u201d<\/em> aldus Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>\u201cBeleid moet gebaseerd zijn op bewijs. De WHO zal Zweden binnenkort classificeren als het eerste rookvrije land van Europa vanwege het beleid ter vermindering van de schadelijke gevolgen van roken en het wijdverbreide gebruik van snus. Zweden heeft een breed scala aan producten ter vermindering van de schadelijke gevolgen: we hebben snus, nicotinezakjes, e-sigaretten, enzovoort. Mensen hebben de keuze!\u201d <\/em>&quot;Dat gaf Europarlementari\u00ebr Charlie Weimers als commentaar.&quot;.<em> \u201c&quot;Zweden werkt aan het terugdringen van de schade en dat werkt heel goed.&quot;\u201d<\/em> concludeerde Europarlementari\u00ebr Weimers.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Om de impact van het Zweedse model te benadrukken, zei Europarlementslid Johann Nissinen: <em>\u201cHet is duidelijk dat roken dodelijk is, en we moeten er alles aan doen om die onnodige sterfgevallen te voorkomen. Zweden is het beste voorbeeld van hoe dit kan worden bereikt, namelijk met een pragmatische aanpak van schadebeperking. Het is het enige land in de EU waar snus legaal en populair is; 18% van de bevolking gebruikt het. Het consumeren van snus in plaats van sigaretten heeft veel Zweedse levens gered. Het is tijd dat de Europese Commissie deze realiteit onder ogen ziet en ernaar handelt.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>\u201c&quot;Snus wordt al sinds de 19e eeuw gebruikt, dus we hebben meer dan tweehonderd jaar aan ervaring die aantoont dat het verminderen van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabaksgebruik werkt. Snus is een uitstekende manier om nicotine te blijven consumeren zonder de schadelijke chemicali\u00ebn die je binnenkrijgt via traditionele sigaretten.&quot;\u201d<\/em> aldus Carissa D\u00fcring, directeur van Considerate Poachers. <em>\u201cVeel landen in Europa proberen alternatieve nicotineproducten te overreguleren of te verbieden. Beleidsmakers denken dat een verbod ervoor zorgt dat ze verdwijnen. Wij weten dat dit niet waar is.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>\u201c&quot;Wereld Anti-Tabaksdag is een trieste herinnering aan de noodzaak van een nieuwe aanpak in de strijd tegen roken. In plaats van minder schadelijke alternatieven zoals vapen of e-sigaretten te bestrijden, moet de EU de realiteit onder ogen zien: schadebeperking werkt!
