De resultaten van de enqu\u00eate uit 2022 verschijnen een week nadat de Europese Commissie de tweede openbare consultatie voor de herziening van de EU-tabaksproductenrichtlijn (TPD) heeft gepubliceerd.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens de enqu\u00eate is een kleine meerderheid van de Europarlementari\u00ebrs van mening dat nicotinehoudende producten minder schadelijk zijn dan roken, terwijl het aantal beleidsmakers dat ze net zo schadelijk acht als roken, met 6% is afgenomen. Een kwart van de respondenten heeft nog steeds onvoldoende kennis over de aard van de producten en de risico&#039;s.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, gaf het volgende commentaar op de resultaten van het onderzoek:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe vieren dat steeds meer wetgevers zich bewust worden van de voordelen van stoppen met roken op het gebied van schadebeperking. De enqu\u00eate toont echter ook aan dat er een grote aantrekkingskracht is op Europarlementari\u00ebrs die geen fundamentele kennis hebben over schadebeperking door tabak, en toch zullen zij de toekomst van de tabakswetgeving voor de komende jaren bepalen. De mythes over vapen en nicotine staan veel regeringen in de weg om schadebeperking te omarmen. Hieronder vallen onder andere het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Zweden.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cZweden is het enige Europese land dat dicht bij het behalen van de 5%-rookvrije doelstelling is. De reden voor dit succes is dat Zweedse wetgevers naar consumenten luisteren en schadebeperking ondersteunen door middel van goed gereguleerde snus en een open houding ten opzichte van vapen. Samen met het netwerk van belangenorganisaties voor vapen blijven we het bewustzijn vergroten over de positieve rol van nicotineproducten in Europa en daarbuiten. We hopen dat EU-politici het voorbeeld zullen volgen en wereldwijd koploper zullen worden op het gebied van schadebeperking.\u201d<\/em> voegde Landl toe.<\/p>\n<p>De WVA heeft ook een factsheet over schadebeperking gepubliceerd met relevant academisch en wetenschappelijk onderzoek over alle onderwerpen rondom nicotineproducten, waaronder de effecten van vapen en nicotine, belastingheffing en smaakstoffen.
