Vorige week heeft de World Vapers' Alliance <\/span>waarschuwde<\/span><\/a> ons over de toezegging van miljardair Michael Bloomberg om zijn desinformatiecampagne over vapen voort te zetten. Volgens de aankondiging van Bloombergs organisatie vorige week is het doel om te focussen op traditioneel antirookbeleid, zoals het uitbreiden van waarschuwingslabels en rookvrije zones, en het ondersteunen van diverse anti-vaping-maatregelen, zoals het verbieden van smaken.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maar waarom gelooft Michael Bloomberg dat hij het beter weet en dat hij de autoriteit heeft om volwassen rokers en vapers tot dit soort besluitvorming te verplichten?<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg staat erom bekend dingen te verbieden die hij niet lekker vindt; in 2012, toen ik nog in New York woonde, stelde burgemeester Bloomberg voor om de verkoop van grote suikerhoudende dranken te verbieden. Dit plan werd later <\/span>vernietigd door een hof van beroep<\/span><\/a> die van mening waren dat Bloomberg zijn bevoegdheden had overschreden.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Andere verboden van Bloomberg omvatten een rookverbod. In 2002 verbood Bloomberg roken in bars en restaurants in New York, en in 2011 verbood hij roken op de meeste buitenterreinen, zoals parken en stranden. New York werd ook de eerste grote stad die de verkoop van tabak aan mensen onder de 21 jaar verbood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg heeft duidelijk een flagrante minachting voor zowel rokers als vapers. Hij negeert de feiten en de wetenschap en behandelt ons als tweederangsburgers. Als Bloomberg de VS echt van het roken af wilde helpen, zou die $420 miljoen beter besteed kunnen worden aan het promoten van rokers om over te stappen op een veel veiliger alternatief.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dankzij Bloombergs tactische filantropie kan hij invloed uitoefenen en zijn verhaal verspreiden, hoe slecht dat ook uitpakt voor ex-rokers die nu afhankelijk zijn van dampende producten om van de sigaret af te blijven.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Dit soort 'grote' liefdadigheid doet de maatschappij meer kwaad dan goed, maar zoals we maar al te goed weten, betekent zelfs geld doneren macht. Gelukkig voor ons, vapers, kon hij zich niet inkopen voor het presidentschap, maar zijn tirade tegen alles wat hem niet aanstaat, gaat door terwijl hij probeert het leven van mensen tot in de puntjes te beheersen, \u00e9\u00e9n verbod tegelijk.<\/span><\/p>\n
