De gewijzigde wet ter voorkoming van tabaksgevaren maakt vapers tot persona non grata, maar misschien doet het ze wel een plezier.<\/h3>\n

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) \u2014 Gebruikers van e-sigaretten voelen de gevolgen van de veranderingen in Taiwan, nu de overheid hen de elektronische sigaretten wil ontnemen die smaakvolle doses nicotine, tot wel 2000 andere chemicali\u00ebn en optionele toevoegingen van de cannabino\u00efde THC leveren.<\/p>\n

Veel van deze mensen hebben de gewoonte in het buitenland opgedaan, voornamelijk in de VS, dat toonaangevend is in de vapenindustrie en zijn producten over de hele wereld exporteert. De wereldwijde markt voor e-sigaretten heeft een geschatte waarde<\/a> van US$8,28 miljard, waarvan de VS ongeveer een derde voor hun rekening nemen, met een jaarlijkse groei van ongeveer 3,87%.<\/p>\n

Wat betreft 'softdrugs' zoals tabak, alcohol en cannabis, zijn de VS en sommige andere westerse landen zo ver 'gevorderd' dat de 'oorlog tegen drugs' plaatsmaakt voor de normale gang van zaken. Ze vormen slechts een extra bron van belastinginkomsten.<\/p>\n

Wat e-sigaretten betreft, verkondigen de internationale lobbyisten van een goed georganiseerde en gefinancierde dampindustrie de zogenaamde "gezonde" resultaten, het bereiken van een "rookloze" of "rookvrije" samenleving, en doen ze misleidende beweringen dat vapen goed is voor het milieu.<\/p>\n

Taiwan lijkt zich niet te laten meeslepen door de hype, want medio januari vond de derde lezing plaats van de gewijzigde Wet ter voorkoming van tabaksrisico's (\u83f8\u5bb3\u9632\u5236\u6cd5), die een verbod inhoudt op de import, verkoop en productie van e-sigaretten. Dit betekent dat de wet medio februari van kracht zou moeten worden.<\/p>\n
