In de derde lezing heeft de Wetgevende Yuan <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cna.com.tw\/news\/aipl\/202301125005.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gestemd<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> steunt de wijzigingen in de &#039;Tobacco Hazard Prevention Act&#039; om elektronische sigaretten te verbieden, het gebruik van verhitte tabaksproducten te reguleren en de minimumleeftijd voor roken te verhogen van 18 naar 20 jaar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De nieuwe wetgeving maakt geen expliciete melding van vapen, maar introduceert in plaats daarvan de term &quot;tabakachtige producten&quot;. De productie, verkoop en levering van dergelijke producten zijn ten strengste verboden. De wetgeving introduceert ook hoge boetes voor illegale e-sigarettenhandelaren, met een maximale boete van NT$50 miljoen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, beschreef het huidige verbod op vapen als een ramp voor de volksgezondheid:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWat we vandaag in Taiwan zien, is het resultaat van een vreselijke desinformatiecampagne over schadebeperking. Vapen is veel minder schadelijk dan roken en heeft de potentie om duizenden levens in Taiwan te redden. De geschiedenis heeft ook aangetoond dat verboden en verbodsbepalingen niet werken. Een verbod op vapen zal er alleen maar voor zorgen dat duizenden mensen weer gaan roken of op de zwarte markt terechtkomen. Als we een rookvrije samenleving willen bereiken, moeten we de schadebeperking door tabak ondersteunen, niet vernietigen. De beslissing van vandaag van de Taiwanese wetgevers is een catastrofale fout voor de volksgezondheid van het land.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In januari vorig jaar heeft de uitvoerende macht het ontwerp van amendement op de wet ter voorkoming van tabaksgevaren aangenomen, nadat er in het verleden al veel pogingen waren gedaan om het gebruik van e-sigaretten te reguleren.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c&quot;In plaats van regelrechte verboden, moet regelgeving gebaseerd zijn op wetenschap en de ervaringen van miljoenen consumenten. Minder schadelijke producten moeten anders worden behandeld dan sigaretten.
