Helaas faalt de strategie om een van de belangrijkste oorzaken van slechte gezondheid aan te pakken: roken. Schadebeperking door tabak moet worden opgenomen in een dergelijke strategie om door roken veroorzaakte ziekten te bestrijden.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, merkte op:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDe EU-commissie negeert opnieuw de wetenschap en de stemmen van consumenten. Schadebeperking door tabak moet een belangrijk element worden van alle gezondheidsbeleid voor de EU. Zevenhonderdduizend mensen sterven elk jaar door roken en tegelijkertijd strijdt de Commissie tegen minder schadelijke alternatieven. De wetenschap is duidelijk: vapen is veel minder schadelijk dan roken en is een van de meest effectieve hulpmiddelen om te stoppen met roken.
