Dit komt voort uit een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1669719819236000&amp;usg=AOvVaw176I6ASgEhoVTu1gX9GQLA\">Financial Times-artikel<\/a> waarin staat dat de Europese Commissie van plan is om \u201cde belasting op nieuwe rookproducten, zoals vapes en verhitte tabak, gelijk te stellen aan die op sigaretten\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Volgens Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, zal een hogere belasting op vaping-producten rampzalige gevolgen hebben voor mensen die willen stoppen en zal er een enorme nieuwe zwarte markt voor vaping-producten ontstaan.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cDe Commissie beweert dat hogere belastingen de volksgezondheid zullen verbeteren, maar de realiteit is precies het tegenovergestelde. Een minder schadelijk alternatief, zoals vapen, moet betaalbaar zijn voor gewone rokers die proberen te stoppen met roken. Als de Commissie de last van roken voor de volksgezondheid wil verminderen, moet ze vapen betaalbaarder en toegankelijker maken, niet minder.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Verschillende belastingen op rook- en dampproducten zijn essentieel voor veel mensen om over te stappen. Bovendien zijn hoge belastingen op dampproducten bijzonder schadelijk voor mensen met een bescheiden inkomen, omdat ze het lastiger maken om over te stappen, terwijl deze groep het grootste deel van de huidige rokers uitmaakt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cHoge belastingen treffen de minst bevoordeelde mensen het hardst. In tijden van meerdere crises en mensen die moeite hebben om rond te komen, is het duurder maken van vapen juist het tegenovergestelde van wat we nodig hebben. Beleidsmakers moeten begrijpen dat belastingverhogingen op vapen mensen terug zullen dwingen tot roken of de zwarte markt, een scenario dat niemand wil. In crisistijden mogen mensen niet verder worden gestraft door een onwetenschappelijke en ideologische strijd tegen vapen. Hieraan moet een einde komen,&quot; aldus Landl.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">De World Vapers&#039; Alliance dringt er bij de Europese Commissie en de lidstaten op aan om het wetenschappelijk bewijs te volgen en af te zien van hogere belastingen op vape-producten als we de door roken veroorzaakte lasten voor de volksgezondheid willen verminderen. De toegang tot en de betaalbaarheid van vape-producten moeten worden gegarandeerd.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c&quot;In plaats van vapen te bestrijden, moet de EU eindelijk de schadebeperking door tabak omarmen. Wat we nodig hebben, is risicogebaseerde regelgeving.
