Half mei werd de Spaanse vape-industrie getroffen door een schokgolf: de regering presenteerde een wetsvoorstel dat een einde zou maken aan de onafhankelijke binnenlandse vape-sector. Het voorstel beoogt de verkoop van vape-producten binnen vijf jaar te beperken tot tabakswinkels in staatseigendom. Gespecialiseerde vape-winkels mogen alleen open blijven als ze een vergunning krijgen als tabakswinkel \u2013 een stap die hen zou verplichten ook traditionele tabaksproducten te verkopen. Het wetsvoorstel zou ook de online verkoop van vape-producten verbieden.<\/p>\n

Tijdens een recente conferentie legde Angeles Muntadas-Prim Lafita, voorzitter van de Spaanse Vereniging voor Vapers (ANESVAP), uit dat de voorgestelde wetgeving betekent dat de overheid de nicotinemarkt wil monopoliseren. "Een land dat lidstaat is van de Europese interne markt wil een vrije en onafhankelijke markt monopoliseren. Dat is alsof we teruggaan naar een tijd waarin Spanje nog geen democratie was \u2013 of zelfs naar de Spaanse Inquisitie", zei ze.<\/p>\n

Muntadas-Prim Lafita achtte het onwaarschijnlijk dat eigenaren van vapewinkels ook gewone sigaretten zouden verkopen. Gevestigde tabakswinkels zouden daarentegen wel of niet vapeproducten gaan verkopen onder de geplande regels. "Dit zou schadelijk zijn voor consumenten die gedwongen zouden worden naar een tabakswinkel te gaan om hun vapeproducten te kopen \u2013 of zoveel als ze kunnen vinden, omdat het aan de tabakswinkel zelf is om te beslissen wat hij verkoopt", zei ze. "Bovendien zouden rokers die vapen gebruiken om te stoppen met schadelijkere producten, in de verleiding kunnen komen om weer gewone sigaretten te kopen. Het is alsof je een bijeenkomst van de Anonieme Alcoholisten in een slijterij wilt houden."\u201c<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
