Na de tweede lancering eerder deze maand is de campagne van de World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) nu ook in de Poolse hoofdstad actief om lokale politici aan te moedigen vapen te omarmen als middel om de schadelijke gevolgen van tabak te verminderen.<\/h4>\n

De campagne<\/a> Het initiatief werd voor het eerst gelanceerd in de zomer van 2021, toen de WVA een nieuwe graffitimuur onthulde voor het Europees Parlement met een duidelijke boodschap: "19 miljoen levens zouden in Europa gered kunnen worden door vapen te promoten."\u201c<\/p>\n

De lancering werd destijds bijgewoond door een aantal vapers uit heel Europa, en Europarlementari\u00ebr Peter Liese en WVA-directeur Michael Landl benadrukten het potentieel van vapenproducten. "Vapen heeft de potentie om 19 miljoen levens in Europa te redden. Morgen komt de Commissie tegen Kanker in het Europees Parlement (BECA) bijeen om voorstellen te bespreken om de schade van roken te verminderen. Ze hebben de kans om geschiedenis te schrijven en levens te redden ALS ze vapen steunen als middel om roken te bestrijden. Onze boodschap aan hen is duidelijk: kies voor wetenschap en red levens.".<\/p>\n

Deze keer ging de campagne op 5 oktober van start in Straatsburg, Frankrijk, met een protestkunstinstallatie onder de titel "Laat 19 miljoen levens niet verloren gaan". De campagne zal zich tussen oktober en november 2022 verspreiden over tien steden in zes landen. De campagne valt samen met de lopende herziening van de Europese tabakswetgeving, de Tabaksproductenrichtlijn (TPD).<\/p>\n
