Het onderzoek omvat 30 interviews met huisartsen en een kwantitatief onderzoek onder 862 Franse en Duitse rokers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Belangrijkste bevindingen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Slechts drie op de vijftien artsen in Duitsland zeggen dat ze de term &#039;harm reduction&#039; kennen.<\/li>\n<li>33% van de rokers in Frankrijk en 43% in Duitsland geloven ten onrechte dat vapen even schadelijk of zelfs schadelijker is dan sigaretten.<\/li>\n<li>69% van de rokers in Frankrijk en 74% van de rokers in Duitsland geloven ten onrechte dat nicotine kanker veroorzaakt.<\/li>\n<li>62% van de rokers in Frankrijk en 53% in Duitsland zijn van mening dat antirookbeleid voorbijgaat aan hoe moeilijk het is om te stoppen met roken.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u201cEr zijn twee belangrijke informatiebronnen voor huidige rokers die willen stoppen: internet en hun huisarts. Helaas weerhoudt de bestaande perceptie onder artsen over vapen als middel tot schadebeperking hen ervan om het aan te bevelen voor het stoppen met roken. Een groot aantal huisartsen heeft bovendien de onterechte overtuiging dat nicotine kanker veroorzaakt. Vanuit het perspectief van de pati\u00ebnt vermindert dit de potenti\u00eble verbeteringen in de volksgezondheid., <\/em>zegt Bill Wirtz, Senior Policy Analyst bij het Consumer Choice Center.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c&quot;Dit onderzoek onthult veel misvattingen over schadebeperking en vapen in landen die in Europa voorop zouden moeten lopen in de strijd voor schadebeperking. Rokers zijn niet tevreden met traditionele methoden om te stoppen met roken en ze zouden ge\u00efnformeerd moeten worden dat vapen kan helpen. Meer dan 19 miljoen mensen in de EU kunnen potentieel overstappen van roken naar vapen, en politici zouden hen moeten helpen door vapen te promoten als de meest succesvolle manier om te stoppen met roken tot nu toe.&quot;\u201d <\/em>aldus Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>Konstantinos Farsalinos, een arts en expert op het gebied van volksgezondheid met veel ervaring in onderzoek naar het verminderen van de schade door tabaksgebruik, zei:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHet momenteel beschikbare wetenschappelijke bewijs is glashelder: vapen is veel minder schadelijk dan roken en zou onderdeel moeten zijn van elk rookstopprogramma wereldwijd.
