{"id":3217,"date":"2022-10-12T04:16:16","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T08:16:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/?p=3217"},"modified":"2022-10-12T04:16:16","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T08:16:16","slug":"the-fda-is-sending-mixed-messages-about-harm-reduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/nl_nl\/the-fda-is-sending-mixed-messages-about-harm-reduction\/","title":{"rendered":"De FDA geeft tegenstrijdige signalen af over schadebeperking."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De FDA heeft onlangs veelbelovende programma&#039;s ter beperking van de schade gelanceerd om de morbiditeit en mortaliteit als gevolg van overdoses te verminderen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De FDA zal de beschikbaarheid en toegankelijkheid van middelen om overdoses ongedaan te maken, waaronder naloxon, vergroten door versnelde beoordelingsprocedures voor producten te ondersteunen en de mogelijkheden voor vrij verkrijgbare middelen te onderzoeken. Ook zullen ze de ontwikkeling van nieuwe middelen om overdoses ongedaan te maken en fentanyl-teststrips voor testen op de plaats van zorg ondersteunen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2021 meer dan <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/vsrr\/drug-overdose-data.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">107.000 mensen zijn overleden.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> door overdoses van drugs. FDA-commissaris Robert Califf heeft zijn standpunt duidelijk gemaakt over het bereiken van betere langetermijnherstelresultaten voor deze problemen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Met de introductie van de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/drug-safety-and-availability\/food-and-drug-administration-overdose-prevention-framework\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FDA-kader voor de preventie van overdoses<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, De FDA streeft ernaar om effectieve en creatieve maatregelen te nemen om overdoses te voorkomen en het aantal sterfgevallen te verminderen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Het agentschap richt zich op alle aspecten van drugsgebruik, -misbruik, -verslaving, -overdosis en -dood in de VS. Ook beloven ze het Amerikaanse publiek dat hun werk gebaseerd zal blijven op wetenschap en transparantie.\u201c\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gezien het feit dat de FDA zich duidelijk zo sterk inzet voor schadebeperking en wetenschap als het gaat om overdoses en aan drugs gerelateerde sterfgevallen, waarom hebben ze dan zo&#039;n moeite met het omarmen en promoten van schadebeperking bij tabaksgebruik voor volwassenen?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miljoenen volwassen rokers in de VS zoeken een minder schadelijk alternatief voor sigaretten. Toch blijft de FDA de verkeerde boodschap afgeven: ze verlagen het nicotinegehalte in sigaretten, promoten ze als &quot;tabaksproducten met een verlaagd risico&quot; en demoniseren nicotine in het algemeen. Dit zal rokers er niet toe aanzetten om deze alternatieven te proberen. De vraag die bij mij opkomt is: als nicotine zo schadelijk is, waarom heeft de FDA dan alleen e-sigaretten met een hoog nicotinegehalte (24 en 50 mg) goedgekeurd via de PMTA-procedure? Deze beslissingen lijken nergens op te slaan en bieden geen mogelijkheid om af te bouwen voor sommige e-sigaretgebruikers. Een ander probleem is dat iemand zoals ik, die begon met 18 mg nicotine en nu is overgestapt op 3 of 6 mg, geen andere optie heeft dan te stoppen of over te stappen op een van deze varianten met een hoger nicotinegehalte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In een recente <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/science-health-public-tobacco-industry-regulation-6af0d635d7859bab914cc249ef43b6e2?fbclid=IwAR3-BSNEkjAHHXLbDzscEXLV041-bP123FKm_jrGiDlc7fVkW3XiJkBBJfM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interview<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, De nieuwe FDA-chef Brian King erkent de potenti\u00eble voordelen van nicotinezouten, maar zwijgt over nicotine in vrije basevorm, smaakstoffen of open systemen. Hij stelt verder dat &quot;e-sigaretten \u2013 als algemene categorie \u2013 aanzienlijk minder risico&#039;s met zich meebrengen dan een brandbaar product.&quot; Hoe rechtvaardigt hij dan de afwijzing van de 99%-aanvragen voor deze producten op basis van het argument dat ze &quot;niet geschikt zijn voor de volksgezondheid&quot;?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De FDA lijkt op de goede weg met bepaalde strategie\u00ebn voor schadebeperking en het is duidelijk dat Kings recente uitspraak een sprankje hoop biedt op verandering wat betreft hun standpunt over THR. Maar zullen we daadwerkelijk een echte verandering zien als het gaat om de promotie van deze technologie waarvan wij vapers weten dat die werkt om een leven lang roken achter ons te laten?
