Eind juni deed de Europese Commissie een oproep tot het indienen van bewijsmateriaal over een voorstel om een aanbeveling uit 2009 over rookvrije ruimten uit te breiden met vapen en verwarmde tabaksproducten.<\/h5>\n

Het doel van de aanbeveling is om alle EU-lidstaten aan te moedigen om verboden op vapen in te voeren en verhitte tabak<\/a> Gebruik op diverse openbare plaatsen. Hoewel een document dat de aanbeveling ondersteunt met betrekking tot "binnen- en besloten ruimten", stelt dat beleid voor "buitenruimten, zoals scholen, speeltuinen en horecagelegenheden" niet binnen de reikwijdte van de EU-aanbeveling valt, maar per geval moet worden bepaald door de regeringen van de afzonderlijke EU-lidstaten.<\/p>\n

De EC wil het gebruik van veiligere nicotine-alternatieven beperken<\/h5>\n

De Commissie is voornemens de aanbeveling te wijzigen in \u201cexpliciet opnemen<\/a> bepaalde buiten- en semi-buitenruimten in de definitie van rookvrije omgevingen\u201d en de reikwijdte uitbreiden met veiligere nicotine-alternatieven zoals vapes en verwarmde tabaksproducten.<\/p>\n
