Tegelijkertijd staat de overheid op het punt om veel vapers weer aan het roken te krijgen door smaken te verbieden. Vapen is <a href=\"https:\/\/tobaccocontrol.bmj.com\/content\/27\/1\/10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/tobaccocontrol.bmj.com\/content\/27\/1\/10&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1665145744749000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1Ynp6nNG_XAQqGowtdSCCR\">bewezen lagere kankercijfers<\/a> vergeleken met roken, is de regering van plan dit beleid toch voort te zetten, ondanks de waarschuwing van het IKNL.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Het IKNL voorspelt dat 1,4 miljoen mensen in 2032 de diagnose kanker zullen hebben gekregen. Dit komt overeen met 7,5% van de verwachte 18,5 miljoen inwoners in 2032. Volgens het agentschap is het terugdringen van het aantal rokers een van de belangrijkste maatregelen om dit te voorkomen. Volgens de World Vapers&#039; Alliance kan dit alleen worden bereikt door tabaksschadebeperking volledig te omarmen en rokers actief aan te moedigen over te stappen op minder schadelijke alternatieven, zoals vapen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, zei:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c1,4 miljoen gevallen van kanker in 2032 is een alarmerende voorspelling, en we moeten er alles aan doen om dit te voorkomen. Helaas werkt de overheid niet mee aan haar plan om vape-smaken te verbieden. Zo&#039;n verbod zou 260.000 Nederlandse vapers weer aan het roken kunnen zetten. Vapen is aanzienlijk minder schadelijk en smaken zijn essentieel om te stoppen met roken. Vapen moet net als in het Verenigd Koninkrijk omarmd worden in plaats van bestreden. De overheid moet eindelijk luisteren naar de wetenschap en de consument, anders krijgen we een ramp voor de volksgezondheid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Vorige week werd de tweede consultatie over een mogelijk smaakverbod afgesloten, wat opnieuw aantoont dat consumenten zich zorgen maken over de negatieve gevolgen van een dergelijk verbod. De consultatie ontving meer dan 1500 reacties, ondanks dat het al de tweede consultatie over dit onderwerp is.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c&quot;Het verwijderen van smaken zou vapers terugdringen in de rook, terwijl huidige rokers juist worden ontmoedigd om te stoppen. Vapen heeft wereldwijd tientallen miljoenen mensen geholpen met stoppen en is minder schadelijk dan sigaretten.
