Op maandag 8 november kwam de Bijzondere Commissie kankerbestrijding van het Europees Parlement bijeen om amendementen op het conceptverslag van de rapporteur te bespreken.<\/h5>\n

De Bijzondere Commissie kankerbestrijding van het Europees Parlement (BECA<\/a>) werd opgericht in september 2020 en bestaat uit 63 Europarlementari\u00ebrs, 33 volwaardige leden en 30 plaatsvervangers. Het doel van de commissie is om de maatregelen te onderzoeken die de EU kan nemen om kanker aan te pakken, door maatregelen voor te stellen in elke belangrijke fase van de ziekte: preventie, diagnose, behandeling, het leven als kankerpati\u00ebnt en palliatieve zorg.<\/p>\n

Op 3 februari 2021 publiceerde de Commissie Het Europese plan om kanker te bestrijden<\/a> met consultaties<\/a> over de Routekaart die liep van 4 februari tot en met 3 maart 2020 en over het Rapport van 4 februari tot en met 21 mei 2020.<\/p>\n

De conceptrapport<\/a> Het document "On Beating Cancer" werd uiteindelijk gepubliceerd op 25 juni, en tot grote ontsteltenis van experts op het gebied van tabaksschadebeperking werd het potentieel van vapen in de strijd tegen door roken veroorzaakte kanker niet erkend. Destijds benadrukte Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers Association (WVA), dat het document een verbetering is ten opzichte van het concept van de Europese Commissie, dat de mogelijkheid openlaat voor verboden op smaakstoffen en hogere belastingen, maar dat het door het potentieel van vape-producten te negeren, nog steeds de plank misslaat.<\/p>\n
