De organisaties dringen erop aan dat de WHO zich in plaats daarvan richt op het nakomen van haar belofte om de schade van roken te verminderen.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, een van de organisaties achter de oproep, zei:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>De WHO heeft de kans om roken voorgoed te bestrijden, maar kiest er in plaats daarvan voor om zich te richten op vapen en andere middelen die de schadelijke effecten van tabak kunnen verminderen. De WHO negeert systematisch de overvloed aan wetenschappelijk bewijs dat wijst op de voordelen van deze producten en de ervaringen uit de eerste hand van miljoenen burgers die definitief gestopt zijn met roken. Het beperken of verbieden van de toegang tot vapen, nicotinezakjes, snus en andere producten zal niets anders dan levens kosten. Miljoenen levens zouden gered kunnen worden als de WHO het echt serieus zou nemen met het bestrijden van roken.<\/em>. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>2021 is een cruciaal jaar voor het wereldwijde volksgezondheidsbeleid. De wereldwijde &#039;COP 9&#039;-conferentie, die in november plaatsvindt, zal de richting bepalen voor antirook- en vapingbeleid wereldwijd. Een van de belangrijkste kwesties met betrekking tot COP9 is dat het protocol van het Kaderverdrag inzake Tabaksontmoediging (FCTC) zijn kerndoel, namelijk het terugdringen van roken, uit het oog is verloren en zich in plaats daarvan lijkt te richten op het bestrijden van de toegang tot minder schadelijke alternatieven.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWereldwijd zouden 200 miljoen levens gered kunnen worden, maar zoals het er nu voor staat, lijkt het erop dat <\/em>alsof COP9 weer een antiwetenschappelijke en anticonsumenten WHO-charade zal zijn. Het is tijd om daadwerkelijk resultaten te boeken. <em>de inzet van de FCTC voor het verminderen van de schade door tabaksgebruik door het onderschrijven van producten die de schade beperken,\u201d <\/em>concludeert Michael Landl.<\/p>\n<p>De 31 consumentenorganisaties uit Europa, Latijns-Amerika, Noord-Amerika, Azi\u00eb, Afrika en Australi\u00eb roepen de WHO op om:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hun belofte om de schade door tabaksgebruik te verminderen waarmaken door producten voor schadebeperking te promoten<\/li>\n<li>Zorg ervoor dat producten ter vermindering van de schade betaalbaar zijn voor consumenten en bescherm het recht op toegang tot deze producten.<\/li>\n<li>Laat consumenten en onafhankelijke experts deelnemen die uit eerste hand kennis hebben van het succes van deze producten voor schadebeperking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels, 6.9.2021. &#8211;\u00a031 consumer organisations representing millions of vapers worldwide are joining forces to demand that the WHO ends its war on vaping and other alternatives to smoking.
