STOPtober is aangebroken en de Nederlandse overheid moedigt mensen aan om te stoppen met roken om hun leven ten goede te veranderen. Hoewel cold turkey stoppen voor sommigen werkt, 95% van rokers<\/a> Hun poging om cold turkey te stoppen mislukt. Het vreemde is dat de overheid, terwijl ze mensen aanmoedigt om te stoppen, het juist moeilijker maakt door een van de meest effectieve methoden te verbieden: e-sigaretten met smaakjes.<\/p>\n

De wetenschap over vapen is duidelijk: E-sigaretten zijn 95% minder schadelijk dan roken<\/a> en ze zijn een van de meest succesvolle en effici\u00ebnte manieren voor rokers om te stoppen. Toch stelt de overheid, te midden van een nationale campagne om rokers aan te moedigen te stoppen, voor om e-sigaretten met smaakstoffen te verbieden in een misplaatste poging om het vapen onder jongeren aan te pakken.<\/p>\n

E-sigaretten met een smaakje spelen een cruciale rol voor rokers die willen stoppen. Volwassen gebruikers die vapen hebben gebruikt om te stoppen met roken, geven aan dat andere smaken dan tabak een doorslaggevende factor waren om te voorkomen dat ze weer begonnen met roken. Door e-liquids met een smaakje te gebruiken, kunnen ze... 230% meer kans om te stoppen<\/a> roken dan wanneer men tabakssmaak gebruikt.<\/p>\n

Volgens een recent rapport, \u201c"Waarom zijn vape-smaken belangrijk?"\u201d<\/a>, Een verbod op smaakstoffen zou een kwart miljoen ex-rokers in Nederland ertoe kunnen dwingen om weer te beginnen met roken. Elke poging om smaakstoffen te verbieden of rokers de toegang tot alternatieven te ontzeggen, moet worden stopgezet.<\/p>\n

In 2007 rookte bijna een kwart van de Nederlandse bevolking dagelijks. Dat aantal is in 2018 gedaald tot 16% en blijft dalen. Het verbieden van e-sigaretten met smaakjes dreigt deze enorme vooruitgang te remmen en het tegenovergestelde effect van STOPtober te bereiken, doordat het voor rokers moeilijker wordt om te stoppen met roken.<\/p>\n

Als internationaal waarnemer wordt Nederland altijd gezien als een open samenleving, sceptisch tegenover onnodige regelgeving en verboden, maar niet in deze situatie. Als de ene overheidsinstantie niet met de andere spreekt, eindigen we met onlogische regels, die haaks staan op de kerndoelstelling van belangrijke gezondheidscampagnes van de overheid.<\/p>\n

In de geest van STOPtober dring ik er bij staatssecretaris Paul Blokhuis van Volksgezondheid op aan om deze ideologische benadering los te laten. Stop met dit misplaatste verbod op smaakjes en werk aan het echte doel: het verminderen van de schade door roken door pragmatische oplossingen te accepteren die een echt positief effect hebben. Dat zou een overwinning zijn voor de volksgezondheid, het pragmatisme en de strijd tegen roken.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
