De ondertekenaars beschuldigen commissaris V\u00e1rhelyi ervan &quot;wetenschappelijk onhoudbare&quot; beweringen te doen dat rookvrije alternatieven net zo schadelijk zouden zijn als traditionele sigaretten.<\/p>\n<p>De brief wijst op een patroon van onjuiste beweringen, waaronder de bewering van de commissaris dat vapen &quot;popcornlong&quot; veroorzaakt \u2013 een aandoening waarvoor geen enkel bekend geval aan e-sigaretgebruik kan worden toegeschreven. Wanneer hoge functionarissen liegen over de relatieve risico&#039;s van nicotine, verraden ze in feite miljoenen rokers en ex-rokers. Deze desinformatie zorgt niet alleen voor verwarring bij het publiek. Het beschermt de sigarettenindustrie door rokers in de EU de prikkel te ontnemen om over te stappen op veel minder schadelijke alternatieven.
