Parijs, 12 februari 2026 \u2013 De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) verwelkomt een nieuw rapport<\/a> van het Franse gezondheidsagentschap ANSES, dat duidelijk erkent dat vapen minder schadelijk is dan roken en beschikbaar moet blijven als een risicoverminderende optie voor volwassen rokers.<\/p>\n

In haar deskundigenrapport concludeert ANSES dat het ontbreken van verbranding het grootste voordeel van e-sigaretten blijft. De werkgroep van het agentschap stelt expliciet dat de algehele gezondheidsrisico's van vapen lager zijn dan die van roken. Tegelijkertijd merkt ANSES op dat slechts ongeveer 21 tot 400.000 volwassen vapers in Frankrijk nog nooit hebben gerookt, wat aantoont dat vapen overwegend wordt gebruikt door huidige of voormalige rokers in plaats van dat het een grote groep niet-rokers aantrekt.<\/p>\n

\u201c"Deze uitspraak van ANSES draagt bij aan het bestaande bewijsmateriaal in het Franse debat."\u201d<\/em> aldus Alberto G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez, beleidsmanager bij de World Vapers' Alliance. \u201c"Het belangrijkste gezondheidsagentschap in Frankrijk erkent nu duidelijk dat vapen minder risico's met zich meebrengt dan roken en dat het ontbreken van verbranding het belangrijkste voordeel is. Beleidsmakers kunnen niet langer doen alsof alle nicotineproducten hetzelfde zijn."\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Het rapport bevat ook praktische aanbevelingen voor rokers en moedigt hen aan over te stappen op vapen als ze niet kunnen stoppen met roken met traditionele nicotinevervangende therapie\u00ebn. ANSES wijst ook op een zorgwekkende kloof tussen wetenschap en publieke perceptie: veel Fransen geloven nog steeds dat e-sigaretten net zo riskant of zelfs riskanter zijn dan roken, hoewel het beschikbare bewijs het tegendeel aantoont.<\/p>\n
