Gen\u00e8ve, 21 november 2025 \u2013 Volgens berichten van Euractiv<\/a>, Meerdere EU-landen hebben de Europese Commissie en het Deense COP-voorzitterschap ervan beschuldigd dat ze tijdens COP11 via een achterdeur een verbod op e-sigaretten en nicotinezakjes probeerden door te voeren, ondanks een eerder besluit. EU-overeenkomst<\/a> Het is niet mijn bedoeling om een wereldwijd verbod op minder schadelijke alternatieven te steunen.<\/p>\n

De druk zou zich naar verluidt concentreren rond artikel 4.5 van de COP11-agenda, dat landen aanmoedigt om strengere regelgeving of verboden op tabak en nieuwe nicotineproducten in te voeren. Terwijl de Commissie en Denemarken aandringen op een krachtiger taalgebruik, verzetten Itali\u00eb, Griekenland en Polen zich daartegen.,<\/strong> Het verdedigen van wetenschappelijk bewijs, nationale soevereiniteit en proportionaliteit in de beleidsvorming.<\/p>\n

Alberto G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez, beleidsmanager bij de World Vapers' Alliance, zei:<\/p>\n

\u201cDe Commissie en Denemarken behandelen Europese burgers alsof ze er niet toe doen \u2013 ze negeren de wetenschap, brengen consumenten het zwijgen op en steunen de ideologie van de WHO in plaats van bewijs. Ze zouden zich moeten schamen.<\/strong> Wij prijzen Itali\u00eb, Griekenland en Polen voor hun moed om dit machtsmisbruik aan de kaak te stellen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

De actie heeft interne spanningen aangewakkerd en benadrukt een groeiende verdeeldheid binnen de EU-delegatie. Er wordt gewaarschuwd dat deze achterdeurstrategie een voorbode kan zijn van wat komen gaat nu de EU zich voorbereidt op de herziening van de Tabaksproductenrichtlijn (TPD).<\/p>\n

G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez voegde eraan toe:<\/p>\n

\u201cDit is niet alleen oneerlijk, het is politiek verraad.\u201d. De commissie had geen mandaat om verboden te bevorderen, maar koos desondanks de kant van de tegenstanders en probeerde ze die achter gesloten deuren erdoorheen te drukken.<\/strong> Als Brussel de herzieningen van de TPD en TED op deze manier wil aanpakken, is de toekomst van schadebeperking in Europa ernstig in gevaar.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

De World Vapers' Alliance roept alle EU-regeringen op om deze tactieken publiekelijk af te wijzen, democratische processen te verdedigen en ervoor te zorgen dat schadebeperking centraal blijft staan in de Europese strategie voor de volksgezondheid.<\/p>\n
