Gen\u00e8ve, 20 november 2025 \u2013 Berichten uit Gen\u00e8ve onthullen dat Denemarken, gesteund door de Europese Commissie, zich agressief inzet voor een verbod op e-sigaretten en nicotinezakjes in de hele EU, in directe tegenspraak met het EU-standpunt dat v\u00f3\u00f3r COP11 was overeengekomen. Dit werd gemeld door \u201cDe lucht klaren<\/a>\u201d", waarin gelekte onderhandelingsdocumenten en bronnen van de tabaksbestrijdingsbijeenkomst van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie werden aangehaald.<\/p>\n

Nog maar een week geleden, de EU akkoord<\/a> Het is niet de bedoeling om wereldwijd te pleiten voor een verbod op minder schadelijke nicotineproducten. Nu probeert Denemarken het proces te ondermijnen door te streven naar een radicaal verbod op zowel e-sigaretten als nicotinezakjes, waarbij bewijsmateriaal en de principes van tabakschadebeperking worden genegeerd.<\/p>\n

De huidige koers brengt Denemarken en de Commissie in lijn met landen als Brazili\u00eb, dat voorstellen bij de WHO heeft ingediend waarin wordt opgeroepen tot een volledige afwijzing van schadebeperking.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, zei:<\/p>\n

\u201cDit is een regelrecht schandaal. De Europese Commissie en Denemarken hebben geen mandaat voor meer verboden. Ze breken hun beloftes, negeren de wetenschap en vallen miljoenen Europeanen aan die afhankelijk zijn van e-sigaretten en pouches om te stoppen met roken. Dit is machtsmisbruik. EU-lidstaten moeten onmiddellijk een einde maken aan deze agenda. Als deze bureaucraten een verbod willen, moeten ze het democratische proces volgen en hun kiezers onder ogen zien, in plaats van achterkamertjesdeals met de WHO te sluiten.\u201d

De World Vapers' Alliance roept alle Europese regeringen op om de poging van Denemarken en de Commissie om via een achterdeur verboden in te voeren, af te wijzen.
