De World Vapers&#039; Alliance veroordeelt ten zeerste de uitspraken van de Europese Commissaris voor de Volksgezondheid, Oliv\u00e9r V\u00e1rhelyi, zoals gerapporteerd door <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/205797\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Politiek,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Met betrekking tot plannen om de belastingen op e-sigaretten gelijk te trekken met die op sigaretten. De beweringen van de commissaris tonen een diepgaand misverstand over het beperken van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabak en bedreigen een van Europa&#039;s meest effectieve instrumenten om levens te redden. In Kenia bracht een landelijk onderzoek een overweldigende publieke bezorgdheid aan het licht over de voorgestelde verboden van de overheid op gearomatiseerde e-sigaretten en nicotinezakjes, samen met strenge beperkingen op andere, veiligere alternatieven. De boodschap is duidelijk: deze maatregelen zullen mensen niet beschermen, maar juist de illegale handel aanwakkeren, levens in gevaar brengen en banen vernietigen. Bijna driekwart van de Kenianen (73%) gelooft dat dergelijke verboden de groei van de zwarte markt zullen stimuleren, en van degenen die deze producten al gebruiken, zegt 81% dat ze in de illegaliteit terecht zullen komen als de verboden worden doorgevoerd. Slechts 1% was het daar sterk mee oneens.
