De meeste van deze respondenten pleitten voor legale toegang tot e-sigaretten, nicotinezakjes en andere producten met een laag risico om het aantal rokers terug te dringen en de cardiovasculaire gezondheid te verbeteren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, zei:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u201cDe Europese Commissie zegt dat minder schadelijke alternatieven een \u2018vergelijkbaar risico\u2019 met roken inhouden, maar de feiten en de mening van de burgers tonen precies het tegenovergestelde aan. De Commissie negeert de wetenschap en sluit de mensen buiten wier leven op het spel staat. Als ze hun eigen standpunt niet willen herzien, zijn deze consultaties niets meer dan schijnvertoning.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tegenstand tegen schadebeperking kwam van een kleine minderheid, voornamelijk van traditionele tabaksbestrijdingsgroepen en enkele gezondheidsorganisaties die vasthielden aan het idee van volledige onthouding. Als EU-functionarissen aan deze achterhaalde beweringen blijven vasthouden en hun eigen burgers negeren, dreigt het consultatieproces een farce te worden.
