Commissaris Varhelyi bevestigde dit schriftelijk. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/E-10-2025-003099-ASW_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">antwoord<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Naar aanleiding van een vraag van parlementsleden. Jarenlang onderzoek en miljoenen persoonlijke verhalen negerend, wil de commissie nu vapen en roken als even gevaarlijk beschouwen. Dit is niet alleen onjuist, het is ook een belediging voor de volksgezondheid en voor rokers die op zoek zijn naar veiligere alternatieven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wetenschappelijk bewijs toont al jaren aan dat vapen en andere nieuwe nicotineproducten veel minder schadelijk zijn dan sigaretten. Zweden is bijna rookvrij omdat het land zich heeft toegelegd op schadebeperking. Tsjechi\u00eb en Griekenland hebben hun rookcijfers drastisch verlaagd door strategie\u00ebn voor schadebeperking te introduceren. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/nl_be\/eu-sidelined-as-reform-leaders-take-the-trophy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">landen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ze redden levens omdat ze doen wat werkt, niet wat ideologie\u00ebn volgen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De commissie negeert dit succes om anti-vapinggroepen tevreden te stellen en makkelijke krantenkoppen te scoren. Door misinformatie tot officieel standpunt te verheffen, misleiden ze rokers, ex-rokers en iedereen die probeert te stoppen. In plaats van mensen aan te moedigen over te stappen van dodelijke sigaretten naar minder risicovolle producten, verspreiden deze politici achterhaalde mythes en angstzaaierij.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dit is geen kleine fout. Door vapen gelijk te stellen aan roken, zal het nieuwe EU-beleid ervoor zorgen dat meer mensen blijven roken, waardoor stoppen moeilijker wordt en er levens verloren gaan. De Commissie heeft ideologie boven wetenschap verkozen. Rokers verdienen feiten en echte opties, geen verdere verwarring. Europa zou moeten leren van Zweden, Tsjechi\u00eb en Griekenland in plaats van hun successen te negeren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Momenteel voert de Europese Commissie een <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/12645-Tobacco-taxation-excise-duties-for-manufactured-tobacco-products-updated-rules-_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">overleg<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over de herziening van de Tabaksaccijnsrichtlijn (TED). Het standpunt van de Commissie is echter al duidelijk en ondubbelzinnig, zoals bevestigd in dit antwoord aan leden van het Europees Parlement. De Commissie behandelt nieuwe nicotineproducten hetzelfde als traditionele tabaksproducten wat betreft gezondheidsrisico&#039;s en belastingheffing. Waarom dan \u00fcberhaupt een raadpleging houden als de uitkomst al vaststaat?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dit is geen echte democratie of transparant bestuur. Het laat zien dat de Commissie openbare raadplegingen, en daarmee de mening van burgers, beschouwt als weinig meer dan een schijnvertoning, een dekmantel om de indruk van participatie te wekken zonder daadwerkelijk invloed uit te oefenen op het beleid. Raadplegingen zouden instrumenten moeten zijn voor zinvolle betrokkenheid en betere beleidsvorming, geen afvinklijstje om vooraf vastgestelde beslissingen te rechtvaardigen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De gehele aanpak van de Commissie ten aanzien van tabaks- en nicotinebeleid is een puinhoop. Wetenschap wordt genegeerd, succesvolle strategie\u00ebn voor schadebeperking in Europa worden terzijde geschoven en input van het publiek en experts wordt afgewezen nog voordat de consultaties beginnen. Deze top-down methode moet van boven tot onder worden veranderd. Beleidsvorming moet werkelijk inclusief, transparant en op bewijs gebaseerd worden om het vertrouwen te herstellen en de volksgezondheid te beschermen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zonder echte betrokkenheid en respect voor bewijsmateriaal loopt de Commissie het risico rokers, vapers en belanghebbenden die zij beweert te vertegenwoordigen, van zich te vervreemden. Een echte democratie luistert naar haar burgers, vooral over zulke cruciale kwesties als gezondheid.
