{"id":6220,"date":"2025-04-30T04:50:11","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T08:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/?p=6220"},"modified":"2025-04-30T04:51:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T08:51:22","slug":"the-whos-failure-to-protect-health-insights-from-the-tpa-webinar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/nl_be\/the-whos-failure-to-protect-health-insights-from-the-tpa-webinar\/","title":{"rendered":"Het falen van de WHO om de gezondheid te beschermen: inzichten uit het TPA-webinar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) organiseerde onlangs een bijeenkomst. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ba1WElqd2aI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cwebinar &quot;Aftellen naar COP11&quot;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Een panel van vooraanstaande experts onderzocht het Kaderverdrag inzake tabaksbestrijding (FCTC) van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) en de tekortkomingen ervan in de afgelopen twee decennia. Het panel, gemodereerd door Martin Cullip, bestond uit David Williams (TPA), Roger Bate (ICLE) en Clive Bates (Counterfactual). Zij benadrukten gezamenlijk het gebrek aan verantwoording, transparantie en wetenschappelijke nauwkeurigheid van de WHO op het gebied van tabaksbeleid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David Williams opende zijn betoog door de zorgen van de TPA over het gebruik van belastinggeld door de WHO te benadrukken, waarbij hij wees op het steeds groter wordende budget en het gebrek aan transparantie van de organisatie. Hij bekritiseerde het geheimzinnige karakter van de COP-bijeenkomsten, waar alleen media die het bedrijf gunstig gezind zijn worden toegelaten en waarnemers worden uitgesloten, in strijd met de beoogde openheid van dergelijke door de belastingbetaler gefinancierde bijeenkomsten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams deelde ook een persoonlijk verhaal over zijn vader, een zware roker die geen alternatieven had, en betreurde het dat het huidige standpunt van de WHO over het verminderen van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabak betekent dat miljoenen mensen nog steeds geen toegang hebben tot levensreddende innovaties. Hij betoogde dat &quot;er geen reden is waarom we deze innovatie niet zouden moeten omarmen&quot; en benadrukte het belang van het ter verantwoording roepen van de WHO, met initiatieven zoals TPA&#039;s &quot;GoodCOP\/BadCOP&quot; die live feitencontrole bieden en de stemmen van experts en consumenten versterken.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wetenschap negeren, belanghebbenden uitsluiten<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clive Bates en Roger Bate benadrukten beiden het herhaalde falen van de WHO om pragmatische, op schadebeperking gebaseerde strategie\u00ebn te hanteren. Bates merkte op dat de WHO en het FCTC verbodsbeleid hebben gepromoot en verboden hebben toegejuicht zonder rekening te houden met afwegingen of onbedoelde gevolgen. Hij bekritiseerde de uitsluiting van consumenten en legitieme belanghebbenden van het beleidsproces, terwijl belangenorganisaties die als tussenpersonen optreden wel een platform krijgen. Bates omschreef dit als een &quot;fanatisme dat mensen schaadt&quot; en betoogde dat de volksgezondheid open en nieuwsgierig moet zijn naar oplossingen, en niet gesloten voor uiteenlopende standpunten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roger Bate voegde eraan toe dat de structuur en financiering van de WHO, afkomstig van lidstaten en particuliere donoren zoals Bill Gates en Michael Bloomberg, hebben geleid tot beleid dat donoren eerder tevreden stelt dan de volksgezondheid dient. Hij pleitte voor een algehele hervorming, hoewel hij sceptisch was over de kans op zinvolle veranderingen zonder druk van de lidstaten.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De noodzaak van hervorming en inclusie<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Een terugkerend thema was de dringende noodzaak om alle belanghebbenden, met name consumenten, te betrekken bij het beleid inzake tabaksbestrijding. Het &quot;GoodCOP\/BadCOP&quot;-initiatief van de TPA, dat zal worden voortgezet tijdens COP11 in Gen\u00e8ve van 17 tot en met 22 november 2025, heeft als doel een platform te bieden voor realtime feitencontrole en ervoor te zorgen dat degenen die het meest worden getroffen door COP-beslissingen eindelijk worden gehoord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Als World Vapers&#039; Alliance staan we verenigd achter degenen die op COP11 pleiten voor transparantie, wetenschappelijke integriteit en oprechte betrokkenheid van belanghebbenden. De WHO negeert al veel te lang robuust bewijs en de praktijkervaringen van miljoenen mensen die met succes zijn gestopt met roken door middel van vapen en andere producten voor schadebeperking. Deze aanpak ondermijnt niet alleen de volksgezondheid, maar brengt ook de mensen die het meest door dit beleid worden getroffen het zwijgen op.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wij vinden het essentieel dat de stem van de consument eindelijk gehoord wordt. Op COP11 in Gen\u00e8ve zullen we aanwezig zijn om ervoor te zorgen dat beleidsmakers het bewijs voor tabakschadebeperking en het recht van volwassenen op toegang tot veiligere alternatieven niet langer kunnen negeren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We weten dat het omarmen van schadebeperking levens redt \u2013 kijk maar naar het succes van Zweden bij het terugdringen van het aantal rokers.
