De EU-ministers van Volksgezondheid hebben de resolutie echter nu wel onderschreven, waarmee ze de eerdere afwijzing door het Parlement van dezelfde aanbevelingen negeren.<\/h3>\n<p>Vorige week heeft het Europees Parlement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/health\/2024\/11\/28\/smoking-ban-resolution-strongly-rejected-by-eu-parliament\">een resolutie verwierp<\/a> De resolutie werd ingediend door de Europese Commissie (EC) en stelde voor om, net als roken, het gebruik van e-sigaretten in de openbare ruimte aan banden te leggen. Destijds prezen experts op het gebied van tabaksschadebeperking (THR) deze stap. Zij benadrukten dat beleidsmakers door de resolutie te verwerpen het onderscheid tussen e-sigaretten en roken hadden bevestigd en de rol van e-sigaretten als middel voor schadebeperking hadden erkend, in plaats van het gelijk te stellen aan roken.<\/p>\n<p>Helaas duurde de positieve stemming niet lang, want slechts enkele dagen later was het alweer voorbij. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2024\/12\/03\/health-ministers-buck-parliament-to-green-light-stronger-tobacco-restrictions\">aangekondigd<\/a> Dat de ministers van Volksgezondheid van de EU de nieuwe aanbevelingen van de Europese Commissie hebben onderschreven om de beperkingen op tabak en aerosolproducten aan te scherpen, ondanks dat het Europees Parlement hetzelfde voorstel vorige week nog verwierp. De nieuw goedgekeurde richtlijnen bouwen voort op de bestaande EU-regelgeving uit 2009 en introduceren uitgebreidere beperkingen.
