Terwijl andere landen worstelen om deze doelstelling voor 2040 te halen, staat Zweden op de drempel van succes. Daarentegen zal de EU als geheel deze doelstelling naar verwachting met 60 jaar missen.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, prees de prestatie van Zweden:<br \/>\n<strong><em>\u201cHet succes van Zweden is duidelijk te danken aan de verstandige en wetenschappelijk onderbouwde aanpak van risicobeperking. In plaats van minder schadelijke alternatieven zoals snus, nicotinezakjes en e-sigaretten te demoniseren, omarmt Zweden deze producten en reguleert ze op basis van risico. Deze aanpak heeft talloze levens gered en biedt een voorbeeld voor de EU. Het is tijd dat de EU het voorbeeld van Zweden volgt om het aantal rokers in heel Europa terug te dringen.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bevindingen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Het totale rookpercentage in Zweden daalde van 5,61 per 4 miljoen rokers in 2022 naar 5,31 per 4 miljoen rokers in 2024.<\/li>\n<li>De totale mannelijke bevolking van Zweden (4,91 TP4T) en mensen die in Zweden geboren zijn (4,91 TP4T) zijn rookvrij.<\/li>\n<li>De totale nicotineconsumptie steeg van 18,51 ton in 2022 naar 20,21 ton in 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>De Zweedse strategie omvat een progressieve benadering van schadebeperking: snus, nicotinezakjes en e-sigaretten zijn toegankelijk en zo wordt snus bijvoorbeeld belast naar rato van het risico, in tegenstelling tot veel EU-landen waar deze producten streng gereguleerd of verboden zijn. Deze op risico gebaseerde aanpak heeft rokers in staat gesteld over te stappen op minder schadelijke producten, wat aanzienlijk heeft bijgedragen aan het historisch lage rookpercentage in Zweden.<\/p>\n<p>De World Vapers&#039; Alliance (WVA) dringt er bij de EU op aan haar restrictieve aanpak ten aanzien van nieuwe nicotineproducten te laten varen en in plaats daarvan de consumentvriendelijke, op bewijs gebaseerde strategie van Zweden over te nemen.
