Londen, 24.10.2024<\/strong> \u2013 De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) bekritiseert de poging van de Britse regering om verbod<\/a> Het verbod op wegwerp-e-sigaretten wordt door het publiek omschreven als een misleidend beleid dat de volksgezondheid dreigt te ondermijnen en de meest kwetsbaren onevenredig veel schade berokkent.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, verklaarde:<\/p>\n

\u201cHet plan van Labour om wegwerp-e-sigaretten te verbieden is een roekeloze aanval op schadebeperking. Deze beslissing zal vooral degenen treffen die de hulp het hardst nodig hebben: rokers die op zoek zijn naar veiligere alternatieven. Door wegwerp-e-sigaretten uit de schappen te halen, geeft de overheid de markt in handen van illegale aanbieders. Het is schokkend dat een Labour-regering, die beweert op te komen voor de arbeidersklasse, een beleid voert dat de armen het hardst treft en het voor hen moeilijker maakt om te stoppen met roken.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Onderzoek<\/a> Uit onderzoek van UCL en King's College London blijkt dat een verbod op wegwerp-e-sigaretten de vooruitgang bij het terugdringen van het aantal rokers in het Verenigd Koninkrijk zou kunnen belemmeren. Een dergelijk verbod zou de afname van het aantal rokers kunnen vertragen, waardoor de gezondheid van 2,6 miljoen mensen die afhankelijk zijn van e-sigaretten om van de sigaretten af te blijven, in gevaar komt.<\/p>\n

\u201c"Dit beleid is niet zomaar een stap terug, het is een gevaarlijke zet die huidige vapers terug naar roken of naar de zwarte markt kan drijven, waardoor jarenlange inspanningen op het gebied van schadebeperking teniet worden gedaan en de gezondheidsongelijkheid toeneemt", voegde Landl eraan toe.
