De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) heeft haar grote bezorgdheid geuit over de oproepen van de British Medical Association (BMA), het Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) en de European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) om wegwerp-e-sigaretten en niet-tabakssmaken te verbieden. Deze maatregelen, aldus de WVA, zijn gericht op het terugdringen van vapen onder jongeren, maar negeren de ervaringen van tienduizenden Europeanen en dreigen de bredere volksgezondheidsresultaten te ondermijnen die mogelijk zijn gemaakt door het gebruik van vapen als middel om de schadelijke gevolgen van e-sigaretten te beperken.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alberto G\u00f3mez Hern\u00e1ndez, beleidsmanager bij de World Vapers' Alliance, verklaarde:\u00a0\u201cDe aanpak van de EU ten aanzien van roken faalt, en verdere beperkingen op veiligere alternatieven zullen het behalen van de rookvrije doelstellingen alleen maar vertragen. 80.000 Europeanen hebben de \u2018<\/i>Elk leven telt<\/i><\/a>\u2019"Een petitie ter bescherming van veiligere nicotineproducten, en Europese politici moeten hiermee rekening houden bij het opstellen van wetgeving."\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Hoewel de intentie om jongeren te beschermen tegen nicotineverslaving prijzenswaardig is, is de WVA van mening dat dergelijke strenge maatregelen er onbedoeld toe kunnen leiden dat volwassen e-sigaretgebruikers terugkeren naar schadelijkere traditionele sigaretten en dat volwassen rokers hierdoor niet meer kunnen stoppen.<\/p>\n
