Ondanks de schijnbare eenvoud verdeelt deze vraag parlementen, journalisten en tabaksbestrijdingsactivisten, ook al is het antwoord simpel: vapen is minder schadelijk dan roken en kan een grote verandering teweegbrengen voor de volksgezondheid.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>De epidemie van misvattingen<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Volgens <a href=\"https:\/\/weareinnovation.global\/opinion-poll-innovation-under-fire-a-global-alert-on-the-misperception-epidemic-in-vaping-views\/\">onderzoek<\/a> Uit een onderzoek van Ipsos voor de denktank &quot;We Are Innovation&quot; blijkt dat maar liefst 741.400.000 rokers wereldwijd ten onrechte denken dat vapen net zo schadelijk of zelfs schadelijker is dan roken. Dit wijdverspreide misverstand, aangewakkerd door verkeerde informatie, weerhoudt mogelijk miljoenen mensen ervan over te stappen op een veiliger alternatief zoals vapen. Een recent Brits onderzoek bevestigt dit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bi.team\/blogs\/how-media-coverage-of-vaping-restrictions-might-influence-public-perceptions-insights-from-a-new-study\/\">studie<\/a> Dit wordt ondersteund door de opmerking dat &quot;de perceptie van schadelijkheid wel degelijk voorspellend is voor het daaropvolgende gebruik van e-sigaretten en roken.&quot;\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Aangezien accurate informatie de hoeksteen vormt van effectief volksgezondheidsbeleid, is het essentieel dat rokers toegang hebben tot de waarheid over veiligere alternatieven. Helaas bieden veel zogenaamde gezondheidsorganisaties geen accurate informatie. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearingtheair.eu\/post\/calling-out-fake-news-prohibitionists-getting-owned-by-community-notes\">bijdragen aan de verspreiding van desinformatie<\/a>. Deze organisaties, waaronder de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO), hebben deze epidemie van misvattingen in stand gehouden met misleidende verklaringen. Alleen al in de afgelopen zes maanden heeft de WHO meer dan tien keer misleidende informatie over vapen en nicotine verspreid, waaronder ongegronde beweringen dat vapen kanker veroorzaakt en dat e-sigaretten vaak meer giftige stoffen bevatten dan sigaretten.<\/p>\n<p>De misplaatste focus van de WHO op vapen en andere veiligere nicotineproducten, in plaats van op de werkelijke bedreiging \u2013 roken \u2013 weerhoudt rokers ervan om over te stappen op een gezonder alternatief.
